Little metalheads grow up.

It's been 15 long years since my first encounter with Anathema, and I never would have thought that at 30 I would find myself waiting for the latest effort from the Cavanagh brothers with the same feverish anticipation with which one awaits major events.

We're Here Because We're Here in 2010 officially marked the new artistic direction of the English band, making long-time fans wrinkle their noses who were still hoping for that gothic doom that made them famous, but also making those cry miracle, like myself, who were hoping for that artistic evolution that began as far back as A Fine Day To Exit.

Weather Systems definitively puts a tombstone over their old doom past and opens wide the already open doors with WHBWH, doors that overlook the boundless plains of human emotion.

Light and shadow, threatening clouds and splendid sunsets, life and death coexist in a unique journey that is no longer scary.

"Untouchable, Part 1 and 2" are worth the entire album with their acoustic passages and the duets between the ever more inspired Vincent Cavanagh and the ever more present Lee Douglas, to whom they will entrust the marvelous "Lightning Song," perhaps the best track on the album with its spine-tingling crescendo and a finale that will leave you utterly exhausted from the intense emotions experienced.

I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that this Weather System hurts. I can't help but listen to it 4 to 5 times a day, and each time I find myself with tears in my eyes, and if I were someone who cries, I probably would, I already know that one of these days while walking the streets of Milan with this album in my ears, I'll find myself hugging random passers-by.

Weather System will be released on April 24, and on the 30th they will play at the Alcatraz in Milan. Live, Anathema is a unique emotion, this album is a unique emotion: bring your tissues.

You need to be prepared for emotions and make sure you have your heart wide open before putting this "Weather Systems" in the stereo.

Anathema confirms itself as an emotional and unpredictable band.
