I never said that Freddie Mercury was more talented than Mozart; I just said that if I really have to compare Freddie's genius, I would compare it to Mozart's. Because they really have a lot in common. For example: they were both people made of excess, they both liked to organize strange parties, hated by critics, they both knew how to play the piano (well, Mozart was a billion times better at this), very theatrical, lovers of opera, died young, both showmen, bizarre...
In my opinion, the best Italian singer is: Battiato (in his golden days).

In my opinion, the artist is the one who has the least technique of all but is able to compose lyrics or melodies that are the result of their pure genius. That's what makes an artist, make no mistake.
Excessive technique ruins creativity and originality. Not always, but often it is so.
In fact, I love Queen also for this reason; the band is criticized for not having an outstanding technique, but despite this (I would say thanks to this), they managed to compose true masterpieces born from their genius (especially in the 70s).
Dream Theater are monstrously technical, but they come across as cold and boring; they convey nothing.
