Ocean Colour Scene On The Leyline

Bella Grant, we missed Ocean Colour Scene. I only have Marchin' Already with the infamous Better Day :D and indeed the sounds are very "sixties."

Despite the seasonal discrepancy, I believe Autumn Song is a potential good summer single. A very upbeat and carefree tune (lyrics included, not considering Nicky Wire's knack for creating misunderstandings, by his own admission). But also Send Away The Tigers and The Second Great Depression (the best in my opinion) would have made good singles. Anyway, guys, if they come to Italy, let’s get organized :D

At first, I considered this album more than sufficient. Recently (wow, I talk as if it came out 2 years ago! :D), I'm reassessing it, and listening to it puts me in a good mood. It could be that it has quite a "summery" sound (if I may say so), and that’s a bit unusual for the Manics. This shows that some songs, although a bit predictable melodically, are really effective. In light of my recent observations, you've provided a very accurate description. PS: But if they come to play in Italy, will you come to see them? :D

Poletti, it’s an almost flawless argument if it weren’t for the “context” being wrong. If I, the poor soul, were to go to the Billionaire, or an exclusive Country Club pretending to be a star, I would then acknowledge a grain of truth in the aforementioned refrain. But, after all, happy hour and nightclubs are pretty normal places; you don’t have to carry a credit card in your wallet. People go to nightclubs (personally, not often/almost never) to pick someone up or to dance a bit, but there are equally “normal” people there. It’s not a place that elevates your status. The same goes for happy hours, which I’ve attended just to down a couple of drinks for the price of one (if you’re lucky, amidst the chaos you might even have more than two).

Thank you! You're right, "Escape The Nest" is quite an annoying piece, both in its arrangements and in its melody. For someone like me who loves listening with headphones, it's torture :) PS: I notice an impressive similarity between the intros (more in the structure of the riff than in the melody) of "An End Has A Start" and "Bones".

“I Pledge Allegiance To The State Of Rock & Roll” is a punchy track, typically Kiss-like, where the interplay of the two guitarists melds with the solid and underrated rhythm section of the two more unruly members. Reading Gene Simmons' biography, he was a good kid. The wild ones were Ace and Peter :) Other than that, everything is very nice. It's a 3.5 album for me.

On the mule you can find almost everything. Bootlegs and b-sides not (unless they are part of an official collection), for example. For those, I recommend Soulseek.

Of course, when compared to the "shit" that circulates daily (let's always remember a de gustibus, you never know...), this and other albums would deserve a 5. However, I believe that in a review, the relationship with what one considers shit is the least important aspect to evaluate, and I did without it.
