The issue is starting to become axiomatic... The worse an artist is, the more comments there are... The more of a human case an artist is, the more likely it is that the person reviewing them is, in turn, a human case... Anyway, I propose a round of applause for RegularJoan's photo :P

Not necessarily referring to the mentioned artists, I find myself wondering: is it better to have a (technically) mediocre musician but an excellent composer, or an outstanding musician but a mediocre (if not terrible) composer? I am a staunch supporter of the first option...
