Ed Hall Love (S)Poke(n) Here

seen together with Unsane, Zeni Geva, and Love 666. as an evening, it was quite a punch, but Ed Hall definitely stood out for their intensity. they showed up completely covered in paint and ultraviolet lights, flowers painted all over the stage, skewed songs, blurred blues, wobbly pop, obsessive rock. great gig. ah, if I remember correctly, the Butthole Surfers closed the show... excellent comeback and great reception. cheers, I’m out.

errata corrige: behind the moniker dj me dj you are TWO characters from the sukia, Ross Harris and Craig Borrell. As DmDy they have released three records, and their latest "can you see the music" is getting great reviews - or at least that's what their label says... Notable is the fact that Harris also has some acting roles to his credit. He is the child in the scene with the two black men speaking jive (Neapolitan in the awful Italian rendition) from "Airplane!". I don’t know anything else, and this, perhaps, is already too much.

it's not exactly (rather, not at all) my kind of thing, but I appreciate good reviews, even if they're about Pavarotti. okay, I was exaggerating... you get what I mean. kisses.

but no, odradek, I don't like "disk competitions" either. I mentioned DJ Shadow because he is very respected but I don't like him, while I really like these Sukia, a lot, and I find many analogies not so much in the music itself but in the approach between the two artists. as for the topic of innovation, you're absolutely right. in the end, though, everything comes down to the fateful question of tastes, the moments to which the listens are tied, the "sound background" of each individual. and the more you have, the more you add.

Well, giorgioladisa, all that’s left is to decide on the date and post the announcements in the town hall!

I remember that my father could never put it on because it made my mother anxious... nice review, well done.

Thank you all for donating your precious time to my humble review. @odra, I knew that the matter of DJ Shadow would be poorly digested. However, I must say that that record does nothing for me, either way. I listened to it a bit, and I found it old. It arrived at a time when downtempo had already said everything, and hip hop was looking for new paths, and in my opinion, it did nothing but canonize and institutionalize things that were already done, already seen, already heard. Obviously, there's no arguing about the technique and the musical culture of the guy, but it seems to me that there's a bit of genius and a bit of courage missing. Even Spectrum, released under the Quannum name but where DJ Shadow handled some of the beats and samples, struck me as weak, flimsy, and utterly weak. The Automator with his Octagon Beats, for example, I find to be extremely bold.
