review extremely sfaccimmosa!
the Mùm... I just tried to listen to the latest one today, which I downloaded illegally:
at first, though, nice; on second thought, let it flow; on the third, issues of hypertrophy in the balls...
I bow my head to the tax authorities and delete everything.

Bah! ...this whole story about anger against the system seems a bit like bullshit to me. Prob. Albini isn't a fan of the "system" (and neither am I), but the fact that aggressive music conveys this message seems like a makeshift justification and a bit childish. In short, it seems to me that aggression in music is often a reflection of an aggression and violence that are also part of human nature. Let’s be clear... I'm not advocating violence, but violent music can simply appeal to us without needing justifications; in fact, it might even be a good way to exorcise our most brutal impulses: "i wish i could eat your cancer when you turn back."
I remember an interview with the singer of ex-Manhole where she spouted a lot of nonsense about how her music was a kind of protest against the violence in her society, but to me, she seemed the violent one... I’d like to see her in a place like Switzerland and see how long she lasts without her Los Angeles...
That said: I’ve always been a bit scared to touch the cassette on which I recorded "at action park" for fear of a deadly shock... great, but Big Black are just as good, maybe I’ll review "songs about fucking"!
