Everything is up for debate, fortunately. At least until heresies and courts come into play. Machiavellian mandrake, often the means is the message, ipse dixit. If you don't feel something, you can't even discuss it. Therefore, the manner and intensity of dissemination are not so secondary...

Guys, how academic you are. Let me be explicit and then I'll really wrap it up: great ideas (kontakte, hymnen, etc.) are nothing without dissemination (man machine, Düsseldorf, and ALSO, cascading to Depeche Mode). How many people have listened to kontakte? How many to we are the robots? And yet both contribute to the same cause. For me, the ivory tower, regardless of the greatness of the idea, is always a defeat. Peace and goodwill.

As long as you’re talking about heresies, I’ll stop discussing. Dialectics are made of opinions. If you already label me as a heretic, for me it ends here. It was nice (but maybe not so much). Responding with "heresy" to someone who starts and ends with "de gustibus" isn’t in my nature. Patience. It seems you really have the spirit of the "punisher." File under autodafé?

I repeat, de gustibus... but the movements of taste and fashion, the great "leaps forward" that the avant-garde often claims to have fathered, happen only and solely when the ivory tower of genius meets the much-maligned "gggente." Stockhausen would have been nothing without Kraftwerk and ALSO the Depeche Mode... Then, rightly, everyone as an individual listens to the records they prefer, the ones that move them the most... it is each person's right and DUTY...

eno gives his best in pop format...roxy not by chance...the best avant ideas come to life only when they manage to contaminate the popular, to spread through osmosis and in a subliminal way...and back then he still had hair, and he wasn't burdened with airport suits...not a chance...

Dear Giorgio, history goes in cycles... there was a time (beautiful? ugly? who can say?) when the blessed Italian press (rumore, blow up foremost) spoke almost by principle about everything that was NOT rock. And then it was all about trip-hop, laptop, microtones... just to keep discussing obscure definitions. Now it’s the opposite. Rock is back in vogue (for how long, who knows...), but don’t worry, it will pass. Blow up continues its drug-fueled avant-garde drift. Rumore has stabilized on a target audience of teenagers... quite a misery, indeed. Anyway, I have listened to (and still listen to) a bit of everything, including electronic music. My, let's say, emotional side needs something quite different, though...

definitions are a necessary evil. they serve to talk about something that resists being reduced to words. however, they have proliferated too much, straying further and further from reality to end up in the masturbations of reviewers. alas, music journalism hasn’t helped this cause. can you explain to me what DAVVERO post rock means? you can clearly understand what a doberman is, but not a post rock album, to stick with the example. furthermore, I believe we have still gone beyond rock. that rock should NOT be transcended. god forbid. we are already post post-modern. even post rock? no, thanks. kikujiro comes from kitano, yes. one of the most heartbreaking yet LIGHT films at the same time. someone who still knows how to use a camera. one of the few. like one of the few who still know how to convey emotion through music. unfortunately. definitely no, I don’t like heaviness...

Punk, that 75-77 era, at least, is not just rock 'n' roll. What’s being sold now is clothing rarely filled with a bit of attitude. The chords are the same, for sure... but you can feel the difference, can’t you? There are a few (excellent) exceptions: Time Flys, Dirtbombs, the "in the red" stuff in general, the Black Keys... I’m just naming a few...
