DJ Gruff Rapadopa
Voto:
Since I discovered this site, I've been wondering why no one had ever reviewed DJ Gruff, and why no one is reviewing him now; perhaps no one "dared," I don't know... For sure, though, this is fantastic and perfectly serves as "the first review of Gruff," both in terms of the writing itself and the choice of the record (what could one start with if not "la rapadopa"). The opening quote is nothing short of spot-on and brilliant, and the description of the work is perfect. (The only minor note, which I mention in parentheses due to its insignificance: Topcat is from Miami, the Jamaican in question is actually Eagle Man, on the track "Body Good"). I sincerely hope this is the first in a series, perhaps by the same de-reviewer who seems capable of speaking about Maestro Gruffetti with dignity.

A delightful review, both amusing and very clear at the same time. You managed to evaluate the album quite objectively and did so in a fun and light-hearted way...hats off!

To complete the discourse of caz (which, despite its rudeness, speaks undeniable truths) and, I reiterate, with all due respect for people like Tayone and Callister (how I wish we had characters of their caliber in Italy), I would like to say that what bothers me the most is that albums like "L'Avvento" should be perceived as distinct works, excellent, extremely important but not as masterpieces. If younger listeners perceive them as such, it's due to the fact that people settle for listening to the part of our hip-hop that evokes PIETA' (80%, to be honest), shouting masterpiece as soon as something comes out that’s above average. I want to reaffirm the untouchability of the old school, especially that part that revolves around Bologna (Gruff, Neffa, Deda, Kaos, Sean Martin, Skizo, FCE, etc.).

The review is written very well and is thorough, but at times you go a bit overboard... I mean, I really loved the album (and it couldn't have been otherwise) and I'm super happy that someone reviewed it on Debaser and moreover with such a great page, but saying that Fluxer are the 'highest peak ever reached' by hip-hop in Italy... surely one of the highest, but... Sangue Misto... Neffa... Gruff... Kaos... Melmaemmerda... Maserio... what can I say... there have been works that are clearly superior!

HORRIBLE review, unreadable if not incomprehensible; without really justifying your judgment, you use excessive tones and an emphasis that is completely devoid of any logical basis. Terrible.

The review is a 3, but there's a sentence that makes it tumble down to a 1, namely -valid bands (like Rancid) and much, much, much less valid ones like Offspring, Lagwagon, Ataris, Millencolin...-. You can't compare Rancid and certainly not Ataris/Millencolin/Offspring and other crap to Lagwagon... it's just forbidden... are you kidding? Listen to their entire discography like 10 times (especially Hoss and Duh), and then take that back :-) I'll give you an intermediate score, but a 3 is just not happening...

A god? Heh heh heh :-)))) Well, what can I say, at least Kappa left a comment that made sense, this little fool can't even talk, he comes to me and sings a little rhyme :-)))) oh absint, who are you? :-))) I swear you make me laugh too much, actually to quote NOFX since we’re on the topic, "I don't know whether to laugh or vomit." Maybe it would be better to vomit. On that shit face you have. oh absint but who the hell are you? what the hell do you want? where were you born, out of someone's ass? it's clear you're sick, I didn’t think your issues were so advanced then I read the second comment and realized the gravity of the situation. Finally, I read your reviews and understood that one in such a state can only produce this kind of comments, but at least try to take care of yourself. What a laugh :-))) but then, the rhyme between basketcasegirl and fuckinbitchsure, look, I almost feel bad to tell you this, but it doesn’t exist :-))) you seem a bit dim-witted, I must say. Be nice to the special ed teacher.

sorciopeloso, cristosanto, ficherrimo is clearly a neologism coined to be funny, but you really can't tell me that "linguistically" the review is poor, especially when compared to a good part of the reviews on this site. At most, there might be things written that you don't agree with in a way that you don't like (come on, don't come and tell me I don't know how to write, with the people that are on debaser... :-) )
