Maybe you went a bit overboard.. but it's a great response to the other review about the album, filled with the usual stereotypes. I would just add that people should stop looking at Verdena as the saviors of the homeland, those capable of elevating the Italian underground to an international level. I don't think that's something they care about at all..

To be applauded for daring to make this change in direction. You're right, they could have capitalized on the success of the first album for quite some time.

I don’t agree; I find art in so many things that I then struggle to make sense of. What you say seems contradictory to me, as if art could always be deciphered like a mathematical equation, or more simply could be "deconstructed" (since that word is quite popular... :-)) into a banal succession of causes and effects. So where's the magic??
As for your references, I know some and not others. But when you say, "perhaps one should have these references to understand a discussion like the one I'm having," it comes off as rather smug, especially since there are dozens of references that are just as or more indicative than those you've mentioned. Your tastes are not the universal judgment, and what touches people's souls is not always the same thing.

The meaning of the arpeggio in "Bliss"? The meaning is that it fits perfectly. In my opinion. Whether everything for pleasure must have a meaning is something that still needs to be proven...

...I would say Dinosaur Jr, especially in the vocals.

Well.. rejecting everything that is fashionable just because it's fashionable is as ignorant as accepting everything that is fashionable as pure gold. I fully defend Bloc and Editors..

In the end, it feels to me like the story of Columbus' egg. Many today take for granted the success of a band like Muse, for that supposed combination of elements wisely stolen from the musical landscape before them, for their truly "cool" image, for that theatrical mix of anger and despair that they are or want to be (if we want to think in Easy terms). If we want to talk about real things, however, Muse are there; to me, they are good, they don't seem banal at all, and if someone is bothered by Bellamy's voice, they can simply choose not to listen to them. I find Bellamy brilliant, for example, in the riff of "Plug In Baby," so simple (if not even childish) but splendidly complete. Many will say that anyone could have come up with it. But nobody did. He did.
