For deathinaugust: see? The metalhead is so ignorant that he compares his music to Britney Spears. But do you realize that the terms of comparison reflect who you are? If your music is good in relation to Britney Spears, what does that count for? Choose valid terms of comparison, and you'll see you can't hold up against them (in my opinion, you don't know valid terms of comparison). It's a bit like saying that chocolate is better than crap, well, thanks for that! And if a chocolate lover told me that his food is better than crap, what value does his statement have? From something like that, I understand only that you know only two things: chocolate and crap, otherwise you would have made more sensible comparisons. As for sales, what do they have to do with what I said? First of all, there are definitely many more metal bands than, for example, boy bands (in your area, how many metal bands do you know? And how many boy bands?), also because boy bands generally don't appear naturally but are manufactured by producers to sell, that’s why they are all in the charts, they are designed for that!

I agree with you; if you had done it with an album recommended by me, I would have felt the same way. Unfortunately, if I don't feel like listening to it, there's nothing I can do about it. You certainly didn't do anything to pique my curiosity (rightly so! You’re not the promoters of "Battleroar"!), but, against my will, I've formed an idea anyway: as I’ve already said, the cover, the name, and everything else already communicate a lot, and what they communicate repulses me.

Typical of metalheads: as a counterpoint, you always have the chart-topping pop! For you, there's only that and various types of metal, and you're convinced that metal is alternative music! Niche! Damn it, in my opinion, metal actually makes up 50% of the global music market, and that’s why it’s saturated with crap! It’s a commercial phenomenon before it’s artistic! What airs on MTV isn’t the only thing that’s commercial! The mere existence of around fifty specialized magazines in each country should make you realize what a dump the metal world is. I don't need to listen to the album, I reiterate! This is a logical reasoning: hideous cover, predictable name, awful logo, a super-abused genre, reviewers who, in a page dedicated to a single artist, recap the history of metal on a site frequented 90% by people with an immense musical culture who learned these things at the age of 12 (the lack of punctuation is intentional to achieve a precise rhetorical effect)! All this is only possible if the album belongs to the shit-music category. If only two or three characteristics were present, but they are all there!
PS
At 14, I listened to exactly this crap, then thank God I grew up!

In the other review, I skimmed over it, but now that I come across this group again, I can't stay silent: if you make epic metal in 2005, you are a man with an IQ too low to make worthwhile music, so I don't need to listen to you to know you suck. Even if this theorem were bogus (and it isn’t!), there’s another one that proves these guys are idiots: a band that presents itself with such a tacky logo is completely devoid of good taste! They look like the writings I used to do at 14! I’m done. The last thing I want to do is offend the reviewer, for whom I have the utmost respect, but this is exactly how I feel, and I can’t find a way to express it more diplomatically without losing some of its meaning.

Very interesting group, currently one of the best. However, I still believe that rock music has been stagnating for at least 20 years. Rating 5, but I hope someone with something truly new arrives sooner or later. Great review.

I know the Focus, now I'll get something from the others (I'm particularly interested in Alquin, progressive was a great youthful love, but it's kind of made me nauseous!).

Thank you! Anyway, this review contains quite a bit of naivety; if I had to rewrite it today, I would do it differently! In fact, I wouldn't rewrite it at all! But it's not to be discarded.

Ah, now I understand why you emphasized that he was Dutch! Quite right, then I ask if you know any other notable Dutch musicians; I would love to have more pleasant surprises like this one. In the meantime, I'm looking for De Groot's first work; I'm curious to hear what his debut is like. As for Italy, I think it’s a country with enormous potential in the field of rock, but for historical reasons, it hasn't fully expressed itself yet: we've spent the last 30 years trying to catch up with the rest of the world, and now we should finally have succeeded. Now I'm waiting for the first masterpieces of Italian rock.

I had read that he was Dutch, but on some sites he appears among Belgian artists, so I got confused (especially since I met him in Belgium, among the records in the "Belgian artists" shelf). It doesn’t seem like a serious issue to me, but I accept the criticism. I won't spend words on the lyrics for two reasons: I don't know the language and I hate political lyrics (and frankly, I assumed people would be familiar with "Avond" and "Welterusten, mijnheer de president").

I didn't say they were media-inflated idiots (I actually think they were quite inflated by the media, but I don't consider them idiots, quite the opposite!), I just said that de Groot is better (I didn't say "much better," just "better"!).
I didn't even say that the Beatles didn't deserve to be the most emulated band ever (in my opinion, being imitated in itself means nothing, neither positive nor negative, so I can't even frame your point of view). You sung and played it all by yourself! You read things that were only in your head!
Anyway, in my opinion, you've never listened to this album, so you can't say if it's better than the Beatles or not (yes, now you'll say you have all their albums, but I will never believe that).
True, I could have avoided the comment, just like you could have avoided yours. I could have skipped the review, the registration on the site, and the purchase of the CD. You could have avoided visiting a review site since you get worked up right away over some jerk who criticizes (according to you! I didn't criticize anyone!) your favorite band.
