Metallica St. Anger: Rehersal DVD
Voto:
I’m outraged (or so to speak, right?) particularly because it’s Metallica! Is it possible that one of the greatest rock bands of all time (as if "of all time" means much! It’s only been about fifty years!) could do something like this? Who knows! I really don’t understand! It’s a terrible turn that Metallica has taken, but at least they tried to change; there are people doing the same things for thirty years! Anyway, the album can be excused, but they could have saved us the DVD.

Are four stars maybe a bit of an exaggeration? Yes, the record is rough, dirty, and perverse, just as it should be, but it didn't take much to make a song like MASK! Not to mention Football, you can’t give so much credit to this post-punk rejection with two dirty chords and an amateurish arpeggio from someone who just started playing. I'm not one of those who insists on showcasing technical skill and virtuosity—far from it! But this is really too sparse of an album. It would have deserved more if it had at least been innovative (just to be clear, I wouldn’t give a low rating to the first Ramones album), but it’s not. It doesn’t even deserve a really low score, though, come on! VIP cracks me up, and The Jerk is also quite tasty! Overall, it’s a fun work to listen to, but objectively speaking, it can’t be assigned much value. I’d say a 3 is perfect.

Come on, what are you talking about! The album was good, just like the first one (at most, you could criticize "XXX"), it's from the next album that Negrita starts to lose their edge! I'm not saying it's a masterpiece or that they are one of the most interesting things in the Italian scene, but this album is pretty good! It deserves a score between 3 and 4, but since that's not possible, I'll give it a nice 4, just to balance out this string of low ratings you've given it.

In short, you’re saying he’s not that great? I met Pollina in Germany (it was a German who told me about him), and he’s quite famous there mainly for his collaborations with the singer-songwriter Wecker. Here in Italy, however, he’s not very well known (even though the Agricantus are one of his creations). I have a few albums by the Agricantus (which, to be honest, don’t drive me crazy), but I’ve never listened to Pollina on his own. This isn’t the first time I've heard (or in your case, ā€œreadā€) someone speak ill of him, so he probably has some issues. Everything fits perfectly: if he’s friends with Wecker, he’s likely one of those pretentious intellectuals with few ideas (though I don’t mind Wecker! Even if I prefer Westernhagen), and if he founded the Agricantus, well, the chances of me liking him drop even further. You’ve definitely convinced me not to buy it, thanks!

Killgod, I made some comments about Vasco Rossi in a review on Mondo Marcio! Come get angry over there, I'm waiting for you!

I respect your tastes, and I understand that often a song can be tied to beautiful memories. However, I don’t like either Marcio's lyrics or those of Toni and Furmini. I propose another one, still by Vasco:
AND THEN WE'LL MEET LIKE THE STARS HAVING WHISKEY AT THE ROXY BAR OR MAYBE WE'LL NEVER MEET EACH CHASING THEIR PROBLEMS EACH WITH THEIR JOURNEY EACH DIFFERENT AND IN THE END EACH LOST IN THEIR OWN SHIT I WANT A SPORADIC LIFE I WANT A LIFE LIKE IN MOVIES I WANT AN EXAGGERATED LIFE I WANT A LIFE LIKE STEVE MCQUEEN I WANT A LIFE THAT'S NEVER TOO LATE ONE OF THOSE YOU NEVER SLEEP I WANT A LIFE, I WANT IT FULL OF TROUBLES.
For me, it’s not enough for lyrics to be serious, addressing themes like generational discomfort, war, or who knows what else. The theme can’t be trivial, but the style mustn’t fall short either. For example, I really hate the latest one from Nomadi, the one that was at San Remo, while "La domenica delle salme" by De André is one of my favorite pieces.

That "much" I know about Dream Theater reminds me of everything from Emerson, Lake & Palmer to Pink Floyd, but not Marillion.
