King Crimson In The Court Of The Crimson King

Historic, spectacular... essential. A true pillar of contemporary music. The piercing "21st Century Schizoid Man" always leaves one in awe (Michael Giles is a phenomenon!... one of the fastest drummers I have ever heard). The rest of the album, on the other hand, is pure melody. - The review seems like a joke to me... I refuse to vote.

A very technical and detailed review for a stunning album… but I don’t feel I can deny it the highest rating. They are all outstanding songs: I can't find one that I like less than another!

It seems you have the deluxe version! But where did you get it??? I have the traditional version with only 13 tracks, and I would really like to hear the remaining four... - Getting back to the album, I can only confirm its quality. Maybe the slow songs are not the best, but the more intense tracks, in my opinion, are wonderful... especially "Howl" (which you didn't mention!), "A Girl Called Linda" (in which, however, I don't really hear anything of "A Trick Of The Tail") and "A Dark Night In A Toytown". The alluring "The Fundamentals Of Brainwashing" is also very tasty... a piece that seems written and performed on the banks of the Ganges. The dreamy Dylan cover, "Man In A Long Black Coat," is nice as well. However, it seems to me a lesser reinterpretation compared to the pop-rock version done by EL&P (from "In The Hot Seat"). - In conclusion, I can say that this "Wild Orchids" deserves a decidedly positive rating, even if slightly lower than the previous rock album "To Watch The Storms" (I temporarily exclude "Metamorpheus" from the order as it belongs to the classical-orchestral genre). - PS: the statement about "The Division Bell" seems quite excessive to me... but tastes are tastes.
Queen A Kind of Magic

I listen to it often and willingly... maybe it's because it was the first by Queen, and so it stuck in my head. In any case, compared to the dud "Hot Space" and the decent "The Works," this one shines in my opinion! 5+ for "Gimme The Prize"??? But it's one of the best on the album! - Perhaps, along with "The Game," this "A Kind Of Magic" is the best by Queen (for the 80s, of course!).

Devastating film (one of my absolute favorites) in its beauty and comedy... the soundtrack follows suit: simply explosive. Bravo Tony!

Can I just jump into the conversation for a moment? I want to make it clear that I've never been anti-Queen; in fact, I own a good number of their albums... I reiterate that, in my opinion, this album is poorly executed. When I cast my vote, I didn’t do it based on that rock-centric vision that you rightly mention... (I’m not one of those who hates the '80s; on the contrary...!) it’s just that this "Hot Space" seems truly bland to me, even when compared to the synth-pop/disco '80s works it should fit in with. It was obvious that the '70s sound couldn’t be exploited forever... but many bands have done better. Just think of that masterpiece "90125" by YES (a progressive band just two years earlier)... then there's the Buggles, for example, who, with only two albums, elegantly set the standards for the '80s. And what about the incredible "Out Of Touch" by Hall & Oates? - You see, I've based my thoughts on contemporary music to this Queen album. What do you think?

For me, it's absolutely the worst from Queen. Fortunately, Bowie is there to save the day with the excellent "Under Pressure"... the rest of the album (except for "Action This Day," which, strangely enough, has stuck in my head... and I enjoy listening to it) is completely forgettable. One last thing: "Staying Power" sounds great live (see "Live At The Bowl"), but in the studio, it also falls flat. - The review is well written, even though I agree with very little of it. In my opinion, it's very (too!) biased: <<if it pleases those Italians so much>>... Who? Where? When? And above all, why??? :-)
