Jethro Tull A Little Light Music

Great review Green, I completely agree. As you well know, I find "Catfish Rising" definitely bad. The following tour, from which this CD was derived, is fortunately better... but still nothing transcendental. An album to listen to when it comes up, but (somewhat) dispensable within the Tull's discography. Three stars.

I just listened to the tracks on YouTube... truly amazing: an album that is a must-have. Great recommendation (and great review!)

@Giustiziere (comment 15) - Here I fully agree with you. However, this is due to the fact that the current remastered series of ZZ Top uses the original LP mixing. Paradoxically, it was the "original" CDs that were anything but original: in fact, the CD version available until a few years ago (and, to some extent, still on the shelves) contained the '80s remix ("Sixpack") created at the time to ride the wave of success of "Eliminator" and "Afterburner."

Since I have the entire original Definitive Edition Remaster (from '94), I downloaded these three box sets, just out of curiosity. Speaking of the one reviewed here, namely the 1976-82, I can say I'm only half satisfied: unfortunately, the two best albums present, "A Trick Of The Tail" and "Wind And Wuthering," come off rather diminished. "Duke" and "Abacab," on the other hand, have received a nice injection of energy. Finally, the result is mixed for "And Then There Were Three." - Nonetheless, the original mixes remain the best by definition.

Good review, as usual, Green. I listened to the album a while ago, shortly after seeing the Tull live... at first listen, it excites, but over time it fades a bit. I admit that I haven't played it in a while. I agree with you that if it had been shorter, it would have had a definitely better impact. The rating would be a 7 out of 10.

4 stars, because I want to round up. If they had condensed the best of this double into a single CD (max 55-60 minutes), it would have been phenomenal... as it is, it feels quite dispersed, and there are more dead spots. My favorite: "Open The Gates, Part Two," which is truly a gem!
