Before moving on to the commentary of the piece, I’d like to say hello to London since it's been quite a while since I last saw him on DeBaser. --- Now, regarding the song in question, I completely agree with David Hentschel's thoughts that you mentioned. When I listen to "And Then There Were Three" (which, in my opinion, isn't as bad as many claim), I get to the penultimate track "The Lady Lies" and then I switch it off... this song kills the album! I give it two stars because, after all, there's a lot worse out there.

Splendid album: I won't add anything else to your excellent description. For me, the three albums from '74/'75 are all masterpieces... similar (you can recognize a consistency and evolution) and at the same time very different (each one arises from a different 'Frippian' idea), but undoubtedly stratospheric!

I haven't listened to it enough to give a definitive rating, however in my opinion it's clear from the beginning that it's an excellent album. I'll take the opportunity to listen to it again and clarify my thoughts.

The title track, "Trail of Diamonds" and "Kiss Of Freedom" are truly captivating and well-made pieces... unfortunately, the rest of the work is not as inspired as "Wake The Sleeper". "Nail On The Head" is not bad, although it’s a track that would have fit better on "Raging Silence" or "Different World," considering its completely disengaged nature. "I Can See You" is total self-plagiarism. - In the end, I agree with the rating (7 out of 10) given by the reviewer.

As I mentioned in the comment I left on the previous review of the 2011 tour of the Generator, my rating goes to the concert in Milan: maximum score and praise. Unique and fantastic... a total experience! --- Great review: I'm always happy to see 'new faces' approaching this kind of music!

I attended their concert in Milan on April 7 at the Conservatorio. It was an incredible emotion, truly a unique experience. They deserve the highest rating, not only for the concert itself but also because they are the best... absolutely unique in the entire music scene. --- Now talking about the songs: the tracks from the latest album sound great, gaining additional energy live compared to their studio counterparts. The selections from "Trisector" were good as well. As for the classics, they performed "Lemmings" (with a spectacularly long introduction... quite different from the original), "Meurglys III" (powerful, although stripped of the original pseudo-reggae ending), "Childlike Faith In Childhood's End" (in my opinion the peak of the concert), and "Still Life" as an encore. It's a real shame that they played "Scorched Earth" practically everywhere except in Milan... since it's one of my favorites from the Generator. --- For those interested, here’s a pleasant interview given by Hammill and company for the program 'Cool Tour' airing on Rai5: Video Rai.TV - Cool Tour - Cool Tour: 13 aprile 2011

Welcome to DeBaser and congratulations on your first review. I haven't yet listened to the album in-depth enough to make a definitive judgment... it certainly seems like a good work: let's say the rating settles around 4 stars. Paradoxically, despite being written by the whole band (unlike in the past), it feels more like a solo project of Hammill with short and varied songs. The class of the Generatore is nonetheless undeniable and shines through immediately in this work as well. Honestly, I’m disappointed that Jackson is absent here too... really a shame given the power and expressiveness of his playing style. --- PS: fortunately, their latest tour also passes through Italy, and I definitely won’t miss it!
