Roxy Music Country Life

Well-crafted review... my opinion on this album is pretty much in line with that of the reviewer: I find the record definitely successful. The fact that it is less experimental compared to the first two with Eno (the 'benchmark' for Roxy Music) doesn’t detract from it too much: "Country Life", in my opinion, contains extremely precious gems... for example, "Triptych" (a perfect balance between decadent atmospheres and medieval 'hues'). Also great are "The Thrill Of It All," "Bitter Sweet," and "Casanova."

@Cristiano and Sotanaht: I completely agree with you. The 2002/03 reissue of Ozzy's albums should definitely be avoided... the first two discs are partially re-recorded, the third is remixed, some titles are out of print. And the records that haven't been 'tinkered' with are recorded at such a high volume that they sound terribly 'compressed'. Better to go for used copies...

One of the best records of the Madman... his first three albums are stellar. The review is excellent and comprehensive as well (a small clarification, which however does not affect the fully deserved rating: Bob Daisley, at the time, was not a former Heep. He would join Uriah Heep, following Kerslake, when the two separated from Ozzy's group).

Very interesting... I’m curious to learn more about this band. I'll take the opportunity to listen to this concert which, being a presumed farewell, should contain the best of their career! - Good review: simple, but it managed to pique my curiosity just right.

Public Image Limited Album (Compact disc)

Absolutely excellent "Rise" (as many other DeUsers, before me, have rightly pointed out)... the concluding 'ternary' "Bags"/"Home"/"Ease" is quite good as well. The rest of the album is very catchy and enjoyable even if, in my opinion, it is a step back compared to the previous "This Is What You Want...". Here... perhaps the fault lies in excessive simplification and uniformity of the sound, making it almost a 'car radio album'. It's a shame that virtuosos like Vai, Baker, and Sakamoto weren't involved in the songwriting - Album rating: 3 and 1/2 stars.

Great review, as always. The only album of this band I know is "Fool For The City" (which includes "Slow Ride"). I think it's their most famous track... Their sound doesn't seem bad at all: I'll look into it!
Public Image Limited This Is What You Want...This Is What You Get

I just received the CD yesterday, although I had already listened to it several times through 'alternative means'. While I'm aware that this might put me at risk of stoning, I feel compelled to say that I prefer the P.I.L. this way... catchier and immediately enjoyable. This reviewed album is great and marks a new turning point for the now sole leader Lydon/Rotten. A highly esteemed "Bad Life," and the same goes for "This Is Not A Love Song" (here re-recorded)… a special mention finally for the stratospheric "The Order Of Death": a magnificent dark atmosphere, yet polished at the same time, envelops the listener (not surprisingly, it was featured in an episode of "Miami Vice"). Rating for the album: 4 abundant stars. - Very concise review, but OK.
