@Nico 63: I fully agree with what you're saying; they seem like objective and intelligent observations.

@ Omahaceleb: honestly, I don't know if it's the same drummer; I approached this album initially with some doubts because I'm not at all a fan of the new soul mixed with American r'n'b scene.. I love the Motown or Stax era, but this album is truly a worthy tribute to that scene.

Dear s4doll, the goal of certain people is to attract attention... I would say it could be defined as a compulsive manic syndrome of being dissatisfied and sterile, being unheard. The aim is not to defend ideas but to provoke, to create chaos, like the ultra who breaks the benches in the stadium, or the uncivil vandal... so they do not deserve attention or listening... it risks playing into their game... from now on, I will respond to competent and sensible comments, which can also be criticisms, but directed at the album or what I write... the rest is just hot air... thanks.

Bravo ez.. I had the immense pleasure of opening for him with the band.. watching him prepare for another concert as if it were the most important of his life, and then his great humanity and being a remarkable character with a stature (ahem.. that moral one, not so much the other) that many lack today. It’s worth reevaluating; in recent years he’s often in Italy, and we can all learn something more from this great and overlooked rocker.. so I reiterate ez's invitation and encourage you not to miss him at the upcoming gigs.
Dario Argento Il Cartaio

I agree, a true disaster. Perhaps Dario Argento represents, unwittingly, the artistic and moral decline of an Italy lacking cultural resources, devoid of ideas. I know, we risk straying from the topic, but he is part of those fallen myths; many have left the stage without ever being replaced, and he has ended up in a regression that does not do him justice. He seems like the mysterious killer always present in his films, turning against himself and inflicting harm on his body and spirit… what a shame.
The Beatles Live at BBC

This is a fundamental document of popular music.. far from spakkamaroniScaruffi. The Beatles surprise me more and more every day; lately, I’m discovering that the true "deus ex machina" of all the experiments that will take root from "Revolver" onward is not Lennon, as I had always thought, but always McCartney. The otherworldly harmonies of Because or the almost punk "Hekter Skelter," the final trip of Strawberry Fields Forever are all ideas of McCartney while I thought they were Lennon’s...

What is this... this would be a review... well... Good album for old fools who buy it because they have the cool album, there's nothing new, if I want an album to listen to while smoking a cigar and sipping a good Italian grappa, maybe I'll put on "A Hard Road" by John Mayall...
The Clash Give'em Enough Rope

Well done, you deserve an award just for your straightforwardness and charm. In my opinion, this is an album worth reevaluating, often underestimated by critics especially because of the production by Sandy Pearlman, who came from the AOR rock Amerika, and had not experienced those turbulent years of punk and the numerous Clash concerts interrupted by fights (see the film "Rude Boy," an authentic glimpse into the life of the Clash). Despite this, in my view, the album showcases a band in top form that adjusts its aim compared to the urgency of the first, delivering a solid punch, taking a second to gather itself, and then throwing a hook that leaves you flat. Then London Calling will come, and there it will be pure music that frees itself into the air, but we can't jump from one thing to another; between the first album and Calling lies this fundamental record in the musical history of the Clash, and those who haven't understood it are better off letting it go. Finally, well done, you did a great job reviewing it.

I too was one of the many who were struck at first listen by "Turn the Bright Lights"... then I moved on to the second album "Antics" which I blasted in my car, tickling my nostalgia for dark and gloomy sounds reminiscent of Ian Curtis. But then they slipped into a painful mannerism and an overvaluation by the majors, leading to this stale and disappointing outcome; in the end, we can do without it, especially since after them, yet another wave of vomited and regurgitated clones came out. They have a single date in Italy in November as if they were planetary stars... I would have them play at Circolo Arci in front of old folks who couldn't care less, happily continuing to play cards... let alone... work!!!!
