Do you remember me (I'm addressing you, the reviewer..) for your passion for the word "cazzo" and its variations the MaDeDoPo, but in my opinion, those are truly (often) brilliant. And then Luca Romagnoli's lyrics have a certain "literary" quality, you don't seem to, but I could be mistaken :-D

That "Guccini, now older than his parents" reminds me a lot of my reflection made in an editorial some time ago regarding myself and Dalla. Moreover, it recalled the story narrated in a lovely little book I read some time ago, "La gita di Mezzanotte." A tiny book in which, just like in the verses of Guccini you mention at the beginning, death is discussed with a surprising and rare serenity and sweetness. Recommended.

That opening line, which, in eleven words plus a comma, fully captures the essence of Buzzati's story, is a stroke of true genius. I would have liked to be its author (of the opening as well as of the story). Among other things, I was preparing an ed based precisely on the suggestions from Il segreto del bosco vecchio (there's also a film with Villaggio), and now perhaps it's time to move it forward.
