Remember this name: The Computers? They are five young Englishmen from Exeter who, in my opinion, have chosen the most bizarre and definitely the most fitting name of recent times.
The band's new album is brand new, released on April 30th, and it's a real gem, provided you like 50s rock'n'roll, a bit of rhythm and blues, a sprinkle of punk (or perhaps post-punk), a bit of soul-beat (is that the correct term?), pop and guitars, guitars, guitars...
It's their second studio album, although they are well-known and highly appreciated among live bands, after their first album "This is The Computers" made an international breakthrough with the single "Disco Sucks".
The new album is titled "Love Triangles, Hate Squares", and you just have to listen to it. In the single, which is also the title track, cleverly or not, greats like Elvis Presley, John Lennon, and Johnny Cash are mentioned.
Fun is guaranteed, the exhilarating choruses are right there for you to listen to, just like the raspy and seductive voice of frontman Alex Kershaw. I'm not sure if it's quite put this way, but the guys really rock.
A final note for those who want or can listen to them live, they will be in Italy on August 2nd for a unique date at the Matscher Au Open Air in Silandro - Bolzano: anyone who listens to them and isn't satisfied has the acquired right to slam this small tribute of mine to a band that has excited me like few others in this musical world, which has very little new to offer and increasingly seems like a copy-paste.
