Maybe some good movie with Julia Roberts does exist, but in any case, for reasons that aren't hers. The point is that if you conduct a survey under the category "favorite actress," you'll see her towering uncontested at the top of the preferences. I mean, this is what scandalizes me, the numbness of collective sensitivity. The difference between the Bisbetico and the Vanzina comedies is that Elia never hurt anyone; on the contrary, today the most prominent national talk shows, in the name of collective cheerfulness, dedicate solemn episodes to Boldi and Vanzina, rather than retrospectives on Antonioni's career because if you were to tell farm chickens that out there exist unspoiled fields, it would be a problem to keep them in check, if you know what I mean.

I don't understand why we should seriously review this film as if it were a masterpiece of neorealism. On the other hand, I don't think it's fair to bash Celentano's "Il Bisbetico Domato" for being a defacer of our culture. After all, let's not talk about the cultural depravity of Bruno Vespa, the Vanzina brothers, the radio stations with their sanitized schedules, the news of Studio Aperto, or all the films of Julia Roberts. These are the ones that truly deserve the pyre. Celentano has never taken himself too seriously, and "Il Bisbetico" has entertained all around without disturbing Pasolini. There you go, a nice 5 (and what about the Muti on the threshold, in the rain...;)

My God, Jarman's Caravaggio... and what to say about Wittgenstein. For months, I've been planning a review on one of these two, but I'm blocked by the famous maxim of Wittgenstein himself: "Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent."

Too much molasses and too much translation into Italian for an album that is undoubtedly of a higher level, as long as we keep the rhetoric in check, I don't know if I'm getting the idea across.

I'm listening to it right now, I'm on the second track, Strangled Road. So much mastery, and definitely few rough edges. I can already imagine that I will (re)listen to it so many times.
