The latest debajazzian releases invite me to fill in some gaps. Before I do that with this Dave Brubeck, I once again delight in the album covers of those years. Perhaps back then, in the absence of current means of communication (and/or promotion), the artist felt the need to say more with the cover. Clear, sharp, profound images were born. Well, I didn’t quite understand it all, but anyway, beautiful renè.

One of the few Mingus albums I shamefully haven't listened to yet (but how can one doubt it's a masterpiece?). Trusting instinct, everything seems well told, with a couple of truly brilliant glimpses into the character. It's just a pity about the low-resolution cover that doesn't allow us to fully appreciate Charlie's big face. Nice one, Renè, we'll catch up after the listen.
