I also allow myself to express my views on the topic of special effects. In my opinion, this film is not commendable simply because it uses cutting-edge special effects, but because through the use of such effects it creates images that are so strong and penetrating, so communicative and "national-popular" - if you will - that they enter the collective imagination of the West (and here I paraphrase some of my predecessors). I don't see how such an "enterprise" can be possible in the absence of at least considerable imaginative creativity from the creator of the images themselves. Well, I wonder how one can overlook this element when evaluating a cinematic work that, as such, finds its expression precisely in the image. Of course, I can understand those who argue that there is a lack of philosophical-moral-social-or-whate ver content in the work in question, and thus, in light of this shortcoming, they feel unable to give a higher rating than sufficient to the legendary Star Wars (see Galakordi).

I'm sorry, Poletti, I don't want to get into an argument, but if you truly disregard the plot (and consequently the conceptual implications underlying it, I dare to add, following simple logic) and for you cinema is only or primarily about image. If for you, therefore, - and I'm copying and pasting - cinema is "Great image, sensational shots, impactful directorial ideas," how can you say that there is none of this in Star Wars? How can you say that in this film there isn't a shred of grandeur and visual power that warrants a higher rating than that miserable 1 you've assigned it?

Know-it-all, I completely understand your expectations. And I certainly wouldn’t say I’m left feeling satisfied with interesting scores, phrases, and amazing arrangements when I finish listening to a Verdena record. I repeat, however, I don’t stop at this shortcoming, but try to appreciate other aspects of their music. It’s a different mindset (not necessarily better, mind you) that I apply to any listening experience, and it has sometimes helped me to uncover some hidden qualities even in music that I would have instinctively dismissed.

Whiny in the sense that you excessively complain about the lack of philosophical-intellectual purpose in the work, the strength of the film has, in part, already been noted by you yourself in your review where you acknowledge some merits (only to then deny their relevance when it comes to voting) and in part has already been highlighted by those who preceded me (I particularly endorse easycure). Dear Poletti, with my comment, I just wanted to emphasize the limitations of your evaluative approach to films. I have read some of your reviews and your comments, and I have always found them didactic and predictable, as if you were always trying to embody the figure of the intransigent film critic, but with a mannerism and stubbornness that makes it come across as rather incredible, uninteresting, and perhaps even lacking authenticity and sincerity.

How many snob-bullshit… to hear Poletti, if you don’t have cultured-philosophical ends, you can’t make art… what nonsense. And then what a superficial and simplistic approach you have in considering artistic expressions, trying to reduce everything to your equation of cultured equals beautiful, you blind yourself to such an extent that you can’t even comprehend the power - spectacular, overwhelming, eternal - of this film. Honestly, I don’t understand who you thought you would impress with this whiny review.

Dear The Publisher, your intentions are clear, understandable, and ultimately noble, and as I have already said, the way you express them is admirable. From my part, I simply wanted to describe my approach to music, which is diametrically opposed to yours, and express my regret for your pessimistic view of the current musical and artistic prospects. A view that I cannot fully share, perhaps precisely due to this diversity in listening approaches, or perhaps simply because I have a lesser musical and artistic culture that does not allow me to perceive so clearly and inevitably this incurable degradation that you describe.

I receive a bit of bullshit for an album that I consider a sort of black sheep in the Maiden's discography. From an instrumental and compositional standpoint, it is perhaps their most complex and interesting work. Compared to their other early works, it might suffer from a lack of great classics, but this characteristic, in the long run, becomes almost a merit, making it still worthy of attentive listening today.
