I wonder: "If Juliette were not the Lewis from Strange Days and Natural Born Killers, who would have spent a penny to produce these Licks?" No one, I guess. Who knows how many licksters around the world would be ready to fawn over a movie star with a minimum of vocal talent, just to make it in showbiz. Lucky them! But also talented, honest, and passionate.
Their passion is Hard Rock, a genre that has said everything or nearly so, and to which our heroes add nothing. They do take a step forward compared to the previous "You're Speaking My Language". "Four On The Floor" appears more homogeneous, especially in the writing, always remaining faithful to the on-the-road spirit that characterizes their riff-and-solo-heavy rock. If you add to this the raspy voice and experienced front-woman moves of Lewis, the result is a pleasant burst of energy lasting just over half an hour, just so we don’t get too tired.
The album starts very intensely with "Smash and Grab", which immediately sets things straight, continues with the catchy "Hot Kiss" (the first single) without giving you time to catch your breath, while "Sticky Money" (the second single) with its catchy riff grabs you by the neck? and so on without changes or pauses in rhythm.
Nothing new and nothing wrong, just a conscious, genuine, and somewhat coarse homage to a bygone era, that of the Stones, the Stooges, AC/DC and so on. A band invented ad hoc for sweaty and showy live performances.
