Yngwie Johann Malmsteen Rising Force

let's stop with this story that Malmsteen does covers of classical music or copies violinists! please, look at the sheet music, just because he uses minor scales and diminished arpeggios doesn't mean he's copying someone else... and do you bend notes on the violin? do violinists use effects with the whammy bar? have you ever heard a violinist play pentatonics???? or use echo and wah wah effects? come on...

smoker wrote that Malmsteen hasn't revolutionized anything, always the same scales, etc... SO (as he says) he's not one of the greatest guitar heroes, among whom he mentions Satriani and Petrucci (who therefore have revolutionized, according to his reasoning. Given that "therefore" in Italian indicates consequence). Then Malmsteen doesn't do metal; he's a genuine rock guitarist. Also, no one has ever talked about Malmsteen doing covers of classical musicians because, after all, that's not true. And then Rhapsody makes power metal with just a few more frills and that's it. No new genre...

Malmsteen has practically invented "solo" a musical genre and a way of playing the guitar. It's lucky that he wasn't innovative.

And if Malmsteen wasn't innovative, what did Satriani invent? The pentatonic scale? And Petrucci? The chromatic scales?

Errata corrige. On this album, Joe Satriani, Steve Morse, Greg Howe, and Vinnie Moore play. You could have mentioned them, right!

But didn't Steve Vai and Vinnie Moore play on this album?

So, have Satriani and Petrucci been more innovative than Malmsteen?

apart from the fact that it’s still very debatable…
