Taz, why not? Come on, let’s discuss it. But as an authenticated user.

@Passante read and study and see that I won't make you laugh anymore. You rattle off honors and titles and expect to tell me something this way? I told you I don't know them, that's all. I will inform myself. But by telling me "the best here, the best there," you're not really proving anything to me either.@ashanti: just don't elephantize my positions to suit your preferences. My response about your prof was clearly sarcastic. I didn't say she should be silenced. I’ll tell you: instead, I’m (perhaps too) empathetic.

Passerby, I'll tell you as a student of philosophical aesthetics: your latest post really makes me laugh.

HOLY CHRIST! Music is NOT necessary! It is an end in itself! Did you think of it as a means?!

Can you explain to me how you express a concept with music? Or maybe you’re referring to SENSATIONS???? Limited vocabulary, huh...

Me limited mentally? But for you, not being limited means accepting all the crap that people tell you? Then... "for me, art must first and foremost be expression and communication, and music, as art, must fulfill the task, along with other arts, of expressing concepts and ideas, obviously framed in a historical and cultural context..." Who wrote this? Clearly, I was criticizing your conception (or, better, vague idea) of art! It would be ridiculous to want to become (funny this) a substitute for Hendrix! Anyway, no one had ever told me I was musically limited before! Well, with all the limited people in understanding who open their mouths, it was bound to happen sooner or later.

"Why don't most of the greatest music critics listen to punk and hip hop?" Are you kidding me? Anyway... Scaruffi. Someone who makes endless lists, each more sterile than the last, shouldn't be taken too seriously. There's much better out there, I assure you. I've never even heard of the critics you mention. And we have to consider their approach to the genre, etc., etc. (there are a bunch of types of punk; not all bands are commercial and banal). "It's like saying that an art critic shouldn't like art from the nineteenth century onward because new painters were fiercely criticized by classical supporters for their lack of technique." Don't attribute reasoning to me that isn't mine.

I will be polemical and an asshole because I’m a bit fed up with reading the usual nonsense...@ashanti: 1. aspiring music journalist who listens to punk and rap? I have no words. 2. Can you tell your Italian teacher to stick to her subject? It’s for the best...3. "but for me art must first and foremost be expression and communication and music, as an art form, must fulfill the task, along with other arts, of expressing concepts and ideas, obviously framed in a historical and cultural context..." can we stop with this bullshit? How can you express and communicate with an instrument if you don’t know how to play it? Can you write a poem without even knowing the alphabet? And music doesn’t express concepts or ideas, as you say, those are the poetic arts. The ones that have the concept. And enough with this story about historical and cultural context! Who the hell cares! What the hell is a scientific discipline?

"hairy, big, long-haired, with a bit of belly fat, sturdy, broad-shouldered" damn, that's the classic profile of a country tough guy! Forget about being a real man! Does the brain not matter at all?
