Rancid ...And Out Come The Wolves

Oh well, if you have the t-shirt... But yeah, the Exploited aren't important, they just made history, and the Dead Kennedys do punk rock like the Ramones, Sex Pistols, etc... yeah, yeah.

In fact, I probably replace it with definitely.

But can you imagine hardcore without Dead Kennedys, Exploited, and Misfits? It probably wouldn't be where it is now.

Wouldn't Dead Kennedys and Exploited be hardcore?

You’re right, you jackass, but heaviness and balls are often directly proportional, though I’ll repeat, often, not always. And anyway, the most "ballsy" ones, in my opinion, are found in jazz. Plus, I think the hardcore legacy especially belongs to Pennywise, from what I know of them.

Oops, "è" with the accent, not without in the first sentence.

Let’s not exaggerate, one of the best bassists in the world is really exaggerated. He’s very, very good, but he can’t be compared to "the best bassists." Considering people who invented the technique, the style of the bass, both in general and in specific genres (in rock, in jazz, in bla bla bla, etc.). In my opinion, you can’t compare John from The Who with Freeman, both because by saying this you’re talking about technique, not about skill, which is very, very different; and also because they come from two different eras, and Freeman plays also thanks to John’s legacy; finally, it seems to me that Freeman uses a pick, while John doesn’t. They are two different techniques (which, by the way, I don’t really like using a pick), for instance with fingers you may not reach the speeds of a pick without a lot of practice, but with a pick you might not have the expressiveness you get with fingers. These are important factors. Sorry, I’m a bit polemical today.

There’s some misunderstanding here. First of all, what I meant to say was not that if a group is meaner, they’re better; that’s what it seemed like was being suggested in the discussion, like: “this one is tougher, no! this one!” and things like that. If you don’t read it, it’s not a problem (see: “I’d tell you to listen to metal but I understand it might not appeal to you, but I’ll name a few black/death bands: Mayhem, Darkthrone, Cannibal Corpse just to name a few randomly; they laugh at your little groups,” I emphasize I’d say). It was just to point out that, according to me, with the existence of such bands (and I emphasize according to me otherwise maybe you won’t get it, even though it’s probably my fault for not explaining myself well), it can’t be said that, not so much NOFX, but Pennywise, Lagwagon and similar bands have the guts. Obviously, that’s just my opinion. Then you, cretinalbo, said: “I like Cripple Bastards and I know them all too well, but the fact that they play harder than NOFX doesn’t mean they’re better than them,” but I didn’t say they’re better (even though I think so), I just said they have more guts than NOFX, etc. I don’t know, I saw that Dead Kennedys and Operation Ivy were brought up; that doesn’t seem very '90s to me. Heh heh but if NOFX and Pennywise don’t have anything to do with hardcore, what do they have to do with it? Sure, they’re different from old school hardcore, but they are (read: “they are defined as”) melodic hardcore, or am I wrong? I’ll be very careful anyway, okay?

Yeah, you write really well... anyway, I don't know the napalm very well, but in about a month they're coming to play in my area, and who would miss that!!

Bah, Rancid are the only punk band (and not hardcore) that I truly appreciate. But come on, cretinalbo, I really think you don’t understand shit about punk. You can’t tell me that Pennywise, Millencolin, NOFX, and various others are serious. They do punk for bored kids (and maybe a little bit "bourgeois" too). From what you say, you seem to be that type, and I’m saying this as someone who is a year younger than you. Gne gne! I’m more punk than you, gne gne... They’re on the same level as Blink, Green Day, etc., or even worse. At least Blink & friends don’t hide the fact that they’ve sold out. If you want to listen to stuff with some balls (I’d suggest metal, but I get that it might not be your thing), I’ll throw in some black/death bands: Mayhem, Darkthrone, Cannibal Corpse to name three randomly; they’d laugh at your little groups. Listen to real hardcore, not that Californian stuff, or grindcore/crust. Check out Cripple Bastard and similar bands, and then tell me if NOFX with their stadium horns have the balls. And you even mention Lagwagon—aren’t they the ones with “Fuck the Spice Girls” and the cover of “Summer of '69”? If I’m wrong, sorry, but if I’m right, then... puahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahah. I listened to those bands too, but I was 12/13 years old... ripuahahahahahahahahahahah. There’s nothing wrong with that, absolutely, but don’t say Rancid aren’t hard enough. And by the way, the bass solos are noteworthy (despite the use of a pick, which I hate)—this is coming from a bassist. The end.
