For Cassie: I could tolerate the muses of the early albums, but by now they’ve sold out too... Davegoth, commercial artists have helped me through depression as well, but THAT DOESN'T MEAN I SAY THESE "ARTISTS" ARE GOOD... it’s just that their music conveys emotions to me that maybe it doesn’t convey to others... but still, on a purely musical level, they are zero...

A record that looks like a lottery ticket, in constant DESCENT. Terrible tuning, yes, sweetsacrifice, the Evanescence don’t even know what a guitar chord is. If you want some nice guitar chords, listen to tracks like "Maggot Brain" by Funkadelic or "Sultans Of Swing" by Dire Straits… or even "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd or "Strange Kind Of Woman" by Deep Purple, stuff that Amy Lee and her bunch of posers with fake gothic attitudes would dig their own grave with. Evanescence are so banal and predictable that as soon as you hear the beginning of a song, you already know its ending (for example, Lithium, the flattest song I've ever listened to). To darkassio: THIS IS A POP ALBUM. THIS IS A COMMERCIAL ALBUM, MADE TO SELL, MADE TO CLIMB THE MTV CHARTS NEXT TO THE "ARTISTS" you disdain so much: don’t be fooled by the fake metal facade that the Evens adopt to attract hordes of rebellious teenagers at their first encounters with metal. This is just a commercial pop album disguised as gothic metal, with heavy riffs played poorly. The fundamental difference between an artist/musician and Evanescence is that THE ARTIST MAKES MUSIC FOR THEMSELVES AND FOR OTHERS, TO FULFILL THEMSELVES, while the Evens MAKE MUSIC TO CLIMB THE CHARTS, THEY MAKE MUSIC FOR MONEY. They would never make an album more complicated and less predictable than this; they always stick to the same style because that’s WHAT THE AUDIENCE EXPECTS FROM THEM, it’s WHAT THE AUDIENCE LIKES. Guys, put it this way: Evanescence is to rock/metal what Britney Spears is to pop. Evanescence could be compared to bands like The Rasmus and My Chemical Romance…

Never seen such a concentration of ignorance on a page of Debaser, except perhaps on the review of that album by those pretentious Dream Theater guys. Evanescence can't play, they don't even know what it means to play an electric guitar: what they do is MIMIC the sound of an electric guitar, it's a "let's try to make it as much like a real guitar riff as possible."
Evanescence makes nu metal for 14-year-olds dressed up as gothic (and yes, because gothic is so trendy now)... Do you know how to assess an artist's skill? By the fact of IMPROVING, of EXPERIMENTING, of CHANGING with every album, which Evanescence has never done: The Open Door presents the exact same mold that Fallen had, they haven't changed one bit, they have only TRIED TO MAKE AN ALBUM AS SIMILAR AS POSSIBLE TO THE PREVIOUS ONE TO ACHIEVE THE SAME COMMERCIAL SUCCESS THAT FALLEN HAD. Evanescence has made 2 songs repeated endlessly: one is the usual beautiful poignant ballad with piano and Amy Lee's high notes (coincidentally, they’ve added another one on this album, a nice ballad to climb straight to the top of the MTV charts and to make both young and old weep, which never bothers us, right?!).

happy wokkid, happy weidiiid, in the shadows, of my laaaif!!! Mamma mia how much I loved the CD back then.... Guilty UOOOOOO, I feel so empty uoooooo! I find that the latest album, more focused on metal like HIM, is so much better...
