Well... In my opinion, after the wonderful "Crest of a knave," this album is their artistic peak of the '80s (by the way, the decade of the early Marillion, the prog still had something to say...). The entire work seems to be permeated by a medieval atmosphere that envelops you until the last track; the first side is truly remarkable (I adore "Slow marching band"...). Of the three weaker songs, I must say that I don't really mind "Pussy willow," in fact... I give the LP a rating: more than three and less than four makes... four! The review is very personal, which makes it appreciable despite perhaps a bit of brevity (something I know all too well...). Well done, anyway.

I was there too at the Estival Jazz, wow!! What a show.
The review is charming, very visceral.
The album? Unbelievable... "Aqualung" is music. Pure music. "Wond'ring aloud" is art, an impressionist painting. The other songs (including the beautiful "Lick your fingers clean" from the 25th anniversary edition) are the pearls that surround these two gems.
Absolutely amazing.
