Idlewild Warning/Promises
Voto:
I believe this review was a nice response to those who accused me of writing just to attract attention and create commotion on the site. I talked about a little-known album, albeit by a band relatively known to fans of British rock, with a careful critical ability, reaffirming the concept that even our favorite artists can release a bad album from time to time. It’s a review intentionally “for a few” and purposefully “low-profile” precisely because I wanted to emphasize that the reason I write reviews is my passion for music, not for the slanders and insinuations of egocentrism that I am accused of. This album by Idlewild was highly anticipated by fans, and it did not meet expectations: but saying that nobody cares about it is a serious sign of ignorance. Damn, I had the decency not to come at you in the comments of the Area album where finally a lot of the crap you’ve piled onto Debaser for months has been thrown back at you, so do show the same style and discretion by avoiding the usual bullshit controversies. It’s not that I don’t know or don’t dare to respond to you; it's hot, and I just don’t feel like it.

Reading the review, it seems like all of English pop from the '80s and '90s is crap (Shed Seven, Human League, etc.), but you seem to know it all too well to despise it. And those who despise buy. It gnaws at you, but that's the way it is. An unnecessarily fundamentalist review; everyone copies, even the Rolling Stones copied. Wake up, no one is innocent.

The review is very good and this record is great, amazing guitar rock. Thank you for dedicating it to me, and I'm quite proud to be the first Debaser user to have this honor. Weezer started off really well, but with the last two albums, in my opinion, they've strayed quite a bit. It's a shame, but scraping the bottom of the barrel is almost an inevitable consequence for bands that are successful right from the start.

psychopompe it's clear that my tones are over the top... when I tried to write moderate and understanding remarks, I got tons of shit anyway: at least now I'm taking precautions.

Alexander, go fuck yourself. You still haven't realized that I can write a positive review about Avril Lavigne because I CAN AFFORD IT? YOU CAN'T, you can't or you'd be contradicting your image of an alternative tough guy, which is all bullshit. I listen to everything, my reviews prove it: I've reviewed The Smiths, Pavement, Atari Teenage Riot, Pulp, and T. Rex... British pop is my favorite genre, but I listen to a lot of stuff. My ears aren't clogged with American wax; I think Tool and Alice In Chains are disgusting, yet I don't insult you for listening to that music... I insult you because you throw shit at me, accusing me of being an MTV kid, truly showcasing your terrifying teenage nihilism... While I'm at it, let me teach you something: there is no black and white, no commercial and anti-commercial... truth (like virtue) lies in the middle. One day you'll understand and be grateful.

COGLIONE, THE TOOL AND ALICE IN CHAINS MAKE ME SICK!!!! Is it clear? I swear I would have bet you listened to that crap from my depressed ex-grunge ball!!! I listen to a bunch of stuff and certainly not that shit rock for frustrated American pimpled teenagers with flannel shirts and no personal hygiene, got it?
I'm a BRITPOPPER, I listen to Oasis, Blur, Primal Scream, and 100,000 bands too sophisticated for your ears dulled by Pearl Jam and that other jerk Layne Staley... you’re from another galaxy that I also find disgusting, so go fuck yourself, grunge and the stoner rock of my balls!!

Alexander77, I hope '77 isn't your birth year because I struggle to believe that you're 28... you really talk like the classic alternative posers who see a video on MTV and automatically think it's crap, without the slightest sense of balance, depth, or a musical/social/cultural background. I imagine you don't know that the man behind the massive success of bands like Travis is the same person who elevated Radiohead a few years earlier (Nigel Godrich), just to name one. You criticize Damon Albarn and Parklife (an EPIC album, unlike your nonsense) but you know absolutely nothing about the depth of this artist, nor his side projects and the often fruitful experiments he has conducted with Blur over the last 10 years... yet you exalt a Graham Coxon who simply mimicked Fugazi and Husker Du for four albums only to end up with his last album in a radio-friendly pop rock sound not much different from what you hear on MTV. You really are shallow... a perfect example of the Italian Pseudoalternative Poser. But fuck off!!
