Alcatrazz feat.Yngwie J.Malmsteen Live Sentence
Voto:
Hi Jackline, I'm glad you liked the CD, thank you for the vote! It's true, Malmsteen had a very strange, atypical career trajectory, I'd say. He expressed the best of himself when he was still a teenager and did so with surprising maturity; indeed, at that time no one could keep up with him, he was ahead of everyone. Perhaps, if he hadn't died, only Randy Rhoads could have challenged his "leadership," as he was endowed with extraordinary talent and inspiration, also with classical roots. However, over time, Malmsteen showed that he stagnated there, seemingly deteriorating in terms of inspiration, while Vai rose year after year, maturing and offering a much broader and more articulated perspective on the guitar.

Your nickname dreamwarrior reminds me, by coincidence, of something from Dokken, but with a missing s hehe!!! Mine comes from Alcatrazz's No Parole From R&R, I’d say we are nostalgic of that era and that kind of music; it's natural to find ourselves whenever a review on the subject appears!!! Well, that means from now on we’ll be the hardcore fans of classy hard rock!

undoubtedly underrated band, but I share the view with dreamwarrior that they are distant from the sounds of Motley Crue and Guns. For me, they offered classy hard rock always played well; certainly, they never reached the levels of Rainbow (the Bonnet-Turner era, that is), but compared to the average bands around at the time, I would say they stood out for their good musical taste and a solid technical level. Besides, George Lynch was a very gifted guitarist, but unfortunately, he was also quite underrated.

At this point, I'll share my opinion too: Malmsteen was born as an artist, Rising Force is an extraordinary work of classical music translated into electric guitar and adapted to rock-hard rock sounds that has nothing to do with metal. Of course, I can't deny that his latest works are "metal oriented" and indeed I don’t like them at all.
Scorpions Blackout

It's a shame that almost everyone remembers the "commercial" Scorpions, while few recall the hard rock ones from the 70s who could brilliantly compete in technique and inspiration with a band like Deep Purple, largely thanks to the presence of one of the most talented lead guitarists of his generation, Uli Roth... Compared to him, Jabs is indeed abyssally distant, though it's worth mentioning that he was undoubtedly more suited for that commercial phase of the 80s.

@cretinalbo88 Satriani is certainly the one among the three who maintains the greatest connection with traditional 70s music; in fact, he is usually well-regarded even by those who don’t like virtuosos. I believe that Satriani is an extraordinary instrumentalist with often remarkable feeling. Vai has the spark of genius; at times, he comes up with incredible ideas that are definitely ahead of their time. Malmsteen, of the three, is the one who offers the least solutions today. Despite having been a big fan of his, I admire him greatly for his early works (Rising Force and Trilogy in particular), but unfortunately, he has since stalled and has continued to repeat the same things, often worse, with a few exceptions (some instrumental pieces, but few). There is no doubt that Zappa and Hendrix are even greater masters of the guitar, without whom none of the others would exist today.

On the g3 I can also agree with you, but keep in mind that it's a very scenic project, where the audience needs to be involved in technical and pyrotechnic demonstrations. After all, those who pay to go to those concerts want to see scales, speed, and virtuosity that, I admit, can sometimes be lengthy and self-indulgent. However, the level of Vai as a musician I believe is hard to question, given that he studied music, so I don't think you can deny it. If you don't like it, that's related to your musical taste, and I respect that, with no controversy.

I was speaking in general, not about the specifics of the group.

Well, you’re mistaken, I’m sorry for you. The fact that it’s ā€œcoldā€ is your subjective judgment, and anyway, since you started making fun of the music I like, I allowed myself to give a brief judgment on what you enjoy, without calling your beloved ones idiots. As for the comparisons, they are obviously bizarre, because the technical and compositional level of Steve Vai or Malmsteen cannot certainly be compared to that of a run-of-the-mill heavy metal guitarist; if you had studied music, you would understand that on your own.
