Journey Trial By Fire

It's very true, in Italy the radio stations unfortunately don't have even a tenth of the outreach capacity that exists in the States. For dreamwarrior: yes, I was referring to technical capabilities; I think Journey and Rainbow with Turner reached the peak in this area. As for Survivor, there's no doubt that they managed to create very sophisticated and soothing melodic solutions!

For me, Marco Poletti has a somewhat inflated sense of self; perhaps he believes he is a modern-day Pythagoras in his very imaginative mind! Those who give this album a 5 do so because they find it beautiful and interesting, artistically successful. You can keep your bad faith and these solemn nonsense to yourself; just because you don’t like it, doesn’t mean the whole world has to follow your line of thinking or that everyone else is an eminent incompetent fool when it comes to music. Therefore, learn to respect others' ideas and contextualize who you are in relation to the global community! As for the MASTER, the scenario you outline, Vin, is a bit unsettling; if he is part of the ranks of the "powers that be," then it is an inevitable "evil!"

I don't quite agree, with Queen, Mercury was the only one who was truly irreplaceable, for the very simple reason that Queen still performs today with May and the rest, but they are no longer Queen, and you can tell! So it is evident that Mercury belongs on another level compared to all the others, who, however, have undoubtedly contributed, some more and some less, to the greatness of the band. With Led Zeppelin it's different because the leadership was absolutely joint; Plant was excellent, but Page, Bonham, and J.P. Jones were leaders in their respective roles just as much as he was, both in personality and talent.

I have always honestly judged the Coverdale-Hughes duo in Deep Purple, also because they had such different vocal tones that, in my opinion, blended perfectly. When I found them together again in that little gem of a song, Sailing Ships by Whitesnake, I felt a real thrill; for me, their voices together are even greater than they are individually! In any case, I admire Hughes a lot in his solo career as well and in the extraordinary performance of Seventh Star with Tony Iommi and the others.

Hughes's voice back then was even higher, but if you listen to, for example, the song Holy Man by Stormbringer, it's a true masterpiece!

I agree with you, it's a rather flat and commercial episode from Kiss, a band I’ve never loved to madness, to tell the truth, but they certainly did much better, especially in the 70s; a song like Love Gun has become a classic in the genre. Overall a good review. I don’t agree with the editors' choice to make these radical changes; as it is now, the homepage is really a disaster. I hope common sense prevails and we go back to how it was before!!!!!!

Anyway, I wouldn't even put Mercury and May on the same level in terms of importance in Queen: it's true that May has a very distinctive sound and, I would add, that he managed to be the "support" for Freddie better than probably anyone else, never trying to overshadow his voice. But the irreplaceable one in Queen was only Mercury, and you can clearly see that today, with another singer at the helm! Losing Freddie, Queen lost their soul; they are no longer that same band that plays in this album!

Yes, dreamwarrior, it's exactly as you say, and I think it's also the most convincing reason why this genre has unjustly struggled to succeed and gain widespread popularity in Italy. However, I believe that with Journey and some works by Rainbow, it was Joe Lynn Turner that brought AOR to its greatest peak, without taking anything away from Survivor or Toto, who are certainly great bands, but on a level that I personally consider to be lower.

Esteemed MASTER Macciocapatonda, from your deep and enlightened knowledge, it was reasonable to expect criticism of a true masterpiece, rather than a very banal and bland musical episode like this one. After all your criticisms of me, vinsex, dio(Ronnie James) through your adept / double generation x, is this all you can come up with? Good for you! Anyway, since you know how to write, perhaps find something more convincing next time, so at least we can have a serious discussion, semel in anno licet!!
