Everyone has had or has their idols. I remember that about 12-15 years ago (when I was a teenager!), my idol was Malmsteen; I knew almost everything about him! Then over time, things change, in the sense that as the years go by, you can distinguish better between what is good and what should be rightly criticized. Today, for example, I am often critical of Malmsteen because I think that with his talent, he could create great works like he did early in his career instead of pointless albums like Unleash the Fury or War to the End! However, back then, I would have defended him just the same, finding ridiculous excuses!! Until next time, ciao Ronnie!
Paco de Lucía, Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin Guitar Trio
Voto:
For me, the trio always delivers a lot, especially live. I have to say that after a while I get a bit tired of listening to them, and perhaps this is the only limit I can define, but they are great guitarists. Among the three, I have a slight preference for Al Di Meola, but those are just nuances. Anyway, I share your opinion, Squalo; I would say that 4 stars cannot be denied to guitarists with such personality and skill, and your judgment is indeed aligned with mine!

Exactly Matt, I was referring specifically to Cort and Yamaha, which, with much more competitive prices, offer quality standards that are definitely higher than Ibanez's low and mid-range models. Of course, the Jem 7 wh is beautiful, but you need to take out a mortgage to buy it! I don't know if it's worth spending a fortune on an electric guitar; at most, it's better to focus on a good tube amp and get yourself a well-made mid-range guitar, which is possible with Cort and Yamaha, but certainly not with Ibanez!!

I understood it as a comparison, maybe I misunderstood! Still, I find it difficult to put Deep Purple, Rainbow, and Led Zeppelin on the same level as Metallica and Iron Maiden; for me, the first three bands are on another planet, and the term heavy metal feels a bit too restrictive for them, naturally this is just my opinion!

Unfortunately, the current Ibanez models, even in the mid-high range, skimp on pickups (almost all end up having to be replaced with original Di Marzio or EMG), and this, in my opinion, is a good reason not to buy Ibanez. The less renowned competition offers much more for the same price (my argument obviously does NOT concern the Jem 7 WH!!).

I believe that the JEM 7-string is still of excellent quality today; it's the JEM 555 that has been heavily criticized for its budget bridge (it features the Edge II Pro, which is a more economical version of the Edge Pro) and the overall finishes. Moreover, it's produced in Korea, unlike all the other much more expensive Vai signatures, which are made in Japan! Compared to the JEM 555, I would suggest a mid-high level Prestige series and a comparable RG Prestige (apart from the pickups, though).

I don't understand these strange little numbers... anyway, you got which albums I'm referring to!

The review is very detailed; it is definitely the most refined one, but I do not agree with the comparison to albums that have marked the history of hard rock. You mentioned "In Rock" or "Made in Japan" by Deep Purple, "Rising" by Rainbow, "Led Zeppelin IV" and "The Song Remains The Same" by Led Zeppelin... honestly, I consider Holy Diver a good album (I prefer The Last in Line, though), but it is far from these masterpieces. So, excluding these comparisons, which I really do not feel I can share, you have done a nice and well-crafted review. Rating: 4.5.

Okay, so I was right! Matt, I spared you the question about the paternity of the review for once!!

Yes, anyway still with the reviews on On An Island, there are already 5 or 6 on this site, for better or for worse, everything has already been said!!
