Splendid review for this Belgian composer whose works I have not yet had the chance to hear. I am told he moves in minimalist territories, punctuated by an uncommon romantic lyricism: the words of Lato B seem to confirm this impression.

Great review for a great album. Congratulations!

I miss the album, but Veloso is Veloso... I've already started feeling the saudade for Brazilian music, now I'll put something on.

Wonderful review as always. The little pieces are fresh and convey a carefree spirit, very interesting even though it's not exactly my genre.
Dee Dee Bridgewater Live in Paris

Symbad increasingly prolific, but without losing an ounce of his usual de-reviewer quality. Dee Dee, a great lady of jazz, even if at times she "strays" into other territories: in this release, she is at her best and superbly accompanied.

I'm laughing like an idiot for quite a while now, reading it. There are fantastic passages. Compliments!

I'll tell you more, Hal, the flute was certainly not an instrument much loved by Wolfgang, but never as much as the trumpet, whose decisive and shrill timbre he literally detested. Even Stendhal, in his Life of Mozart, shares a delightful anecdote about little Amadeus being subjected by his father Leopold to a "shock therapy" to learn to tolerate the sound of the trumpet: forced to endure a performance by a handful of masters summoned for the occasion, all armed with the instrument, it seems that the genius collapsed to the ground after just the first note, pale as a rag and on the brink of a convulsion crisis. Regardless of this, though, the concerto for flute, harp, and orchestra is truly wonderful! Best regards from the loggione.

Above, correct "verstile" with "versatile."

This splendid review is the perfect opportunity to remember how some of the most enjoyable pages of the Salzburg genius are entrusted to the characteristic timbre of the clarinet (I also think of the well-known concerto, excellently reviewed by Hal), an effective and versatile instrument, introduced into the orchestral setting for the first time by none other than Wolfgang, and dearly loved by him (unlike the flute, whose sounds he could hardly bear). Congratulations, Mullah!

Musically a bit far from my usual listens, but the reviews in refined "sfascesco" are fantastic: in three hundred years, people will talk like this, sfascia is way ahead :-)
