Ludwig van Beethoven Sinfonia n.°6 in fa maggiore, Op.68.
Voto:
An essential yet absolutely complete review for what I love to call "the perfect symphony": you cannot move a single note from this unmatched sound architecture for balance, intensity, "narrativity," and pictorialism. I have the versions by Bohm, Karajan, and Abbado, all with the Berliner: gentle and rich the first, powerful and "institutional" the second, agile and sleek the last one, which, to this day, is the one I prefer.

Soul is not prominent in my listening habits, but the sensual spirituality and the feeling you mention, which also ooze from the snippets, are quite tempting.
James Levine - The Met Orchestra Mussorgsky: Pictures At An Exhibition - Stravinsky: Le Sacre Du Printemps
Voto:
Excellent work, shark, both for the quality of the proposal and for the methods and tones of the discussion, which are highly enjoyable. I have the Symphonies with the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Ashkenazy (in a double CD from Decca that also contains the piano version played by Vladimir himself), while I have the Rites with the Berliners conducted by Karajan: both are highly recommended, but I would love to hear this version by Levine with the Metropolitan Orchestra.

Really not bad, you've debunked the taboo of unnecessary duplicates.

Dave Douglas Strange Liberation

What a class act Dave Douglas! I don't have this one, I only own "Soul On Soul" from 2000, which is stunning. For the "Report Beautiful Covers" campaign, this "Strange Liberation" is definitely a contender. Another great hit, odra.

A McCoy Tyner in Latin style, who would let that slip away? Another great shopping tip, symbad.

Described this way, these Clogs really have everything to please me, maybe some samples? A very tempting proposal (and since I'm at it, I'll also note Samuel's tip...)

I'm discovering them only now too, thanks to your excellent de-reviewing action, odradek... I'll pass the ball to the mule...
