Gustav Mahler Sinfonia n.2 "Resurrezione"

Thanks to all the de-commentators, ever so generous and armed with endless patience to complete the reading of this hypertrophic review. @sfascia: I'm convinced that if you gave it a listen, you'd be captivated by the power of this music; in any case, we'll all meet at Villa Arzilla, I've just asked messer Odradek for permission to enter, as it seems like a lot of fun there :-) @Grass: I've heard Abbado with the Berliner, and I liked it a lot, but in this case, I lose objectivity because I tend to adore every note commanded by the baton of the Divine Claudio; even Bernstein's complete Mahler with the Wiener is a great experience (in fact, DG is even reissuing it on DVD, a pleasure for the eyes as well as the ears!) @josi: speaking of dichotomies, I can't take Kancheli off the CD player...

I also want to come to Villa Arzilla to drink a mojito and listen to these Voom Voom... is access allowed for 28-year-olds, right? Of course, the bell goes Peng Peng...

Stunning album and beautiful review as usual: it's true, it makes any artistic aspiration disappear on the six races! Symbad, my predictions say that summer will return starting from Monday, at least here in Sicily...

Wow Anonymous Reviewer, I was there that night too and I’ve been mulling over a review of this concert for a while; but never mind, because you have taken care of it excellently, well done. Judging by the photo, you were in the second or third row, between stage 18 and 21, right? I was in the fourth row on the other side, stage 12. Anyway, the show, as the good odradek had already hinted in another review, was of exceptional power, truly leaving one speechless. Odra, the Philip Glass Ensemble played in sync with the film projection and...yes, every accent, every musical emphasis was in a magical, perfect simultaneity with the projection, right up to the credits. It was a privilege to be there.

You said it all... It was surely a beautiful debut, pleasant, refined, even though it lacked an originality that could undermine the enjoyment of listening in the long run; unfortunately, the next step was not convincing at all.

Oh, if Braianino says it, I would give it a try; anyway, excellent review.

An almost unknown and unheard disc, just like the genre, but the admiration for the pages in disarray remains ever intact...

Hal, I agree with what you pointed out about the film, which, in my opinion, regains its "oriental" essence thanks to its slow and gentle pace, as well as the meticulous precision in reconstructing settings and atmospheres, enhanced by skillful cinematography. The soundtrack, of exquisite taste, risks becoming too insubstantial and, consequently, may slip into indifference. Both products, the film and the score, are decent, while the review is truly enjoyable.
