Sunn O))) Oracle (bonus disc)

@Laggio: Electric Wizard, although very stretched and smoky, are still a Sabbath-esque metal band (like Sleep). Here, instead, it’s about drones/ambient vaguely connected to metal, like the early Earth or the early Boris.

Yes, beautiful. There's really a ton of good kraut stuff out there.

Damn, these are really boring. Scaruffo is obsessed with these crazy dissonant trips. I usually enjoy mega-trips a lot. Still better than total crap like shit & shine.

Heard it once, it seems like solid stuff but I'll reserve judgment for another listen. Salùt

In my opinion, there's really no comparison with Blues & Snake; these two are on another level. And they are one of the best discoveries of recent times. As for Twenty Miles, I've never heard of them, should I go look them up?

Damn, I've gotten tangled up in it. They come close to the first Cows or even the Australian Feedtime in terms of ferocity, but it's much more tied to tradition. One of the most violent blues records I've ever heard. You can also find the first one (2006) online, which is a sort of self-produced demo, and it's definitely worth checking out. While I'm at it, in the filthy blues field, I also want to mention Seasick Steve, a bearded vagabond who, after a life on the fringes, pops out at seventy with his first record (fabulous) to which the Left Lane Cruiser owe quite a bit.

I caught these back in the (distant) days when I was still reading scaruffi. They are highly enjoyable, and from what I remember, I agree with supersoul on the exaggeration in the rating and on definitely preferring the sparkling collection "Savy Show Troopers." Aren't they vaguely comparable to stuff like Fatso Jetson?

In their words, it was supposed to be a more complex album in its structures, yet still retaining the immediate fury of the first. Unfortunately, it's just a tad more structured and prog, but the incisiveness has gone to hell. It's still something that can be felt, of course.
