THE REVIEW

DRONE: the ultimate refuge for those who seek escape in music. The individual who commonly indulges in (or is used by) this genre typically falls within the age range of twenty to thirty years old, speaks three or four uncommon languages fluently, experiences ongoing necrosis symptoms, tends to lose hair, develops a unique predisposition to photophobia, and is on the verge of extinction.

Now, for all the masochistic lovers of the genre, here is Oracle: a restless creature crafted by Sunn O))). Oracle is not harmless, it is not an "album" and it is not "music," but the American duo (Stephen O'Malley - Greg Anderson) already warned us about all this since Void, their first full length which was released in 2000. Casual listening is absolutely prohibited, and it is best consumed in the dark. If you fear darkness, stay away because in 81 minutes you will only receive this, but in abundance. The claustrophobic abyss that opens up before you is embedded in three tracks, the first, "Belürol Pusztít" serves to pave the way, to familiarize with the darkness, to acclimate the eyes, while the sound of chains and infernal screams begin to penetrate the bones. Even the chaos that is manifested obeys precise rules. "Orakulum" is the mother track. The unmistakable yet annihilating (ab)use of granitic riffs rises like columns of high cathedrals of the dark, the inconceivable. "Orakulum" is a black land where only the ancestral and ominous voice of Attila (Tormentor, Mayhem, Aborym) lingers, it is a hand that grips your throat and watches you suffocate, only to abandon you in the corner. Eighteen eternal minutes that will draw nourishment from your soul to give voice to the secret shadows of the flesh, while you desperately wander in search of a glimmer of light, even knowing that only its memory could burn your eyes. Your attempts to struggle will fail miserably, the grip of terror will tighten more firmly around you. You will question where you are, if you are alive, how a human mind could conceive such a work, while what's left of you prepares to face the last stage. "Helio)))sophist" is pure apoptosis. Eternity in 47 minutes. No, evil is not yet satisfied with you, it slips slick on your skin, trying to make its way, freezing your blood and halting your breath. You will slowly drown without oxygen. Your mind will continue to be overwhelmed by this black mud, infinite metastases will open up in every part of your body, draining any remaining energy. It's a slow, ferocious agony that, even aware of its own power, chooses to ration its lethal injection with precision.

"There are nights when the future is abolished and of all its moments only the one we choose to no longer be remains" (Cioran)

No big deal if it's not for you, or if you abandon the endeavor. Oracle is a return to a place you've never been, but above all, where no one awaits you...
