Nirvana Nevermind

The best weapon of Nirvana was undoubtedly Cobain's voice; for the rest, almost all the bands you mentioned in the first three paragraphs are better.

Funny reviews are the best. I greatly prefer them to professional ones or those "existential-felt-poetic" reviews that inevitably have to get a 5!

For sanjuro who wants to start listening to N. Young, I agree with donjunio in recommending Rust Never Sleeps. Personally, I've always preferred Neil Young's electric sound to his acoustic one; by the way, the vast majority of alternative bands from the '80s and '90s are inspired (at least distantly) by Neil's sound. Right now, Dinosaur Jr comes to mind as a striking example.

Thank you, thank you Donjunio! Today, on my way home, I had the urge to buy this album (€10) and after listening to it once, I have to say it's fantastic! It's my 27th record by the Canadian; how could I have waited so long to get it? Shots puts Like a Hurricane to shame (I must admit I’ve never liked that one). In fact, the whole album puts American Stars 'N Bars to shame! I shouldn't have believed all the criticism that has always been directed at Reactor, so thanks again, Donjunio.

STRATOSPHERIC album! Ambulance Blues (which is not a blues) is my favorite song from the entire Young discography, stunning! I completely agree with kosmograbi on Walk On.

OK, it shouldn't be bad at all. I'll listen to it soon.

The Flaming Lips Hear It Is

x El Guevo: well, it doesn’t seem to me that I have just denigrated them: I said that the latest albums are less sincere and simple and that they are seasoned with "cloying effects elaborated in the studio," but I also said that they are still classy. These are personal opinions, meant to give the reader a sense of my thoughts on the Flaming Lips. (ES: this reviewer doesn’t really like the latest albums but likes the early ones, so.....). As for the nostalgia issue, I completely disagree: to me, the Lips are just as crazy now as they were 20 years ago, maybe even more so; it’s just that now they make music that's more distant from my tastes, that’s all. It wasn’t nostalgia; it was a clarification (which I believe was due). Ah, thank you for the compliments ("truly wonderful review": OVER THE TOP) :)
