Hey, if you don't know Husker Du, I highly recommend you try one of their latest albums, I think you'll like it. Camper Van Beethoven are also close to REM, give those a shot if you're interested.

For me, the two albums you mentioned are not masterpieces; it’s true that R.E.M. had exceptional talent, and Murmur is proof of that, even though lately (the last 10 years?) they have lost a lot. I also really like Lifes Rich Pageant. Bye!

I don't know, when I say masterpiece I mean "Zen Arcade" or "Double Nickels on the Dime" or "The Fire of Love" or "Psychic Powerless" (to mention the records released during those years). R.E.M. were a great band, but they never reached those heights. In the end, it's a matter of taste, but your "mah" really bothered me: if someone doesn't think like you, then their opinion is dismissed with a "mah" (which I assume implies: Festwca doesn't understand anything about music because it goes against the Unquestionable Truth). And I respond: mah, R.E.M. are still a rather uninnovative band, and I believe there's no doubt about that.
