When talking about Australia, I'd say more garage-rock than punk. I have a compilation called "Tales From The Australian Underground: Singles 1976 to 1982" which is an absolute gem. Among the well-known (so to speak) Radio Birdman, Saints, and Birthday Party, there are some incredible treasures. I’ve downloaded the Stiff Little Fingers. And what do you think of the Damned?

The first of Ash Ra Tempel is The Supreme Psychedelic Disc.

Pretazzo, don’t think about Bardo Pond. They have little to do with it. These are the original German kraut stoner psycho guru d.o.c. There's nothing better. (and I’m putting 7up on CD today and I’ll see if I come out alive)

Beautiful. In classic punk, there are some really valid bands like this one, Radio Birdman as pretazzo says, or the Saints who are almost systematically ignored in favor of the usual three. What a shame, because they all really give the Pistols a run for their money!

Hooray, the return of krautrock on DeB. This album is Cosmic Music to the umpteenth power! The Cosmic Jokers are sort of a summary of the genre. In the style of Ash Ra Tempel, side A is a psychedelic journey that leads to madness (more varied than usual, I even hear Neu), while side B is a metaphysical electronic expansion (more dynamic and interesting than usual). I only have this one, but the other four albums are probably crazy and absolutely essential - and one day I'll have them. I have quite a bit of other stuff (Ash Ra Tempel, Klaus Schulze, Walter Wegmuller, Sergius Golowin) and I must say that the album I liked the least is actually Golowin's, from which parts of the album reviewed here are taken. I'm missing 7Up, does anyone know anything about it?

Hey, I had forgotten about this review. I got the original album some time ago and I've been listening to it for quite a while now. Now I can say that it's beautiful! (and it leaves the Tangerine Dream quite behind. But not Klaus Schulze!)

I thought about it for a moment, the DEFINITIVE cosmic trip is Amboss on the first album by Ash Ra Tempel (the only one with Klaus Schulze). A thing to lose your mind over, seriously, 19 minutes of madness that desynchronizes the mind (to put it in Julian Cope's words). If you haven't done it yet, give it a listen, those old krauts might just be the ultimate psychedelics of all time. In comparison, the Hash Jar Tempo (which, by the way, are nothing more than an occasional tribute jam) are like little ants.

Perhaps the ultimate hardcore album. That said, I definitely prefer the wild ones to the straight-edge (and I don't follow you on your anti-hippies analysis), my favorite old school hc album is Rock for Light by those crazy guys, the Bad Brains.
