Unfortunately, she thinks very highly of herself, but the electrocardiogram is NOT the only thing to remain... flat ;))

To put it in business terms: if I diversify, I take fewer risks. Or I make more money ;)))

:) All of this has clearly helped me gain experience. Now, from just a few samples, I already know when it’s time to start a new listen. In the past, I’ve had moments when I ā€œburned outā€ an artist or a style, perhaps because it just wasn’t the right ā€œmoment,ā€ there weren’t the right images or the right mental disposition. You see, closing doors in your face isn’t pleasant. Since I love music, I try to appreciate every variant of it (or almost, eh, I don’t expect to endure MTV :D) and sometimes this takes a long time.

Instead, records that I’ve known for much longer, that I’ve played over and over, don’t have a single image so defined. "Black Celebration" by Depeche Mode is one of those for which I could write an entire script down, song by song, with different images, even though all connected by the night. Well, here the circumstance of the first listen also played a role. I picked up a lot of nuances over time, after dozens of listens. Each time there was, even if I had already "nailed" my associative mood.

I still need to "flip" Fagen properly, since I haven't bought it for long. I'll tell you, regarding Jarreau, I can see the whole animated scene (of the sunset, the evening, etc.), it's almost always the same, static but STRONG. I know it well. It's pretty much true for the whole album.

I'm sorry if I bored you by chance. I'm just trying to offer a starting point for discussion.

Associating certain images with an album is, in my opinion, influenced by the setting in which you have fully ASSIMILATED it (not just heard it, but "understood" its structure). It could be the first listen, the third, the hundredth. But then you remember that moment and associate it with the album.

To give you an example, I often associate a mid-80s vibe like Al Jarreau, or the mysterious Nightfly, with certain summer sunsets by the sea, pop music, for a calm, refined evening (NOT the plastic high society, if you know what I mean, eh ;) ). Certain tracks by Stan Ridgway remind me of a chilly night, asphalt swept by the mistral, greenish lights of a polluted suburb, and a shadow wandering around looking for cardboard to shelter. These are just a few examples.

Mmm, you deserve it, 5. I sense the scenarios, in fact, I can picture myself in them, even with my own personal hitlist (like each of us, I believe). I don't know the album, but you've intrigued me.
