Keith Jarrett The Koln Concert
Voto:
I don't know, in my opinion there's more talent in Thelonious Monk's ingrown toenail, but also in that of Bill Evans or Ahmad Jamal or Horace Silver or even Herbie Hancock, (but maybe also in that of Uri Caine or even just pick any Brad Mehldau) than in all these brilliant pieces of Jarrett that, in the end, leave all the pleasantly found time behind, to tell the truth. Honestly, I'm telling you this as a former fan.
Keith Jarrett The Koln Concert

I don't know, in my opinion Jarrett is overrated, 5 stars for this concert are really too many. With all due respect, saying he changed the course of music is truly an exaggeration. The rating would be 3.5, but I round it down to 3 because I find the guy annoying, a real obsessed madman.

review of a stunning banality for an (underrated) rock masterpiece. If only there were more good old stuff like this...
Anthony Braxton Live
Voto:
Well done, macaco. I should definitely listen to Braxton; he's quite intriguing to me.
François Truffaut Fahrenheit 451

simply a fantastic film. on the book I would like to become, I'm undecided between Borges' Aleph or a collection of short stories by Woody Allen. and you??
Alessandro Baricco City

I write it in the form of an equation, that way it's more precise: baricco = (shit)^(shit)

more than K.A.K.K.A., this is truly shit. And of that rancid kind...
Jorge Luis Borges L'Aleph
Voto:
simply amazing, perhaps my favorite book by Borges and one of my all-time favorites.
Iannis Xenakis Pléïades
Voto:
Probably Xenakis' piece for unaccompanied percussion is the most accessible. I listened to the Pleiades live a few years ago, and I remember being quite impressed. When I listened to it on record a few years later, I recall that I liked it less (I think a big part of the enjoyment came from seeing that array of bizarre instruments in action). I don't rate the work because I've listened to it too few times, and I don't think I understand it yet.
