John Coltrane Olè Coltrane
Voto:
I join the admirers of this album, a symbol of a new phase in jazz. In the piece "Olè," it becomes clear that the new boundary sought by John Coltrane is the East. Jazz is directed towards the Orient, passing through Spain. The track begins with a rhythmic carpet on which a discreet and delicate saxophone solo rests, followed by a duet of bass with a flamenco flavor, and finally develops into a long improvisation that is, indeed, Spanish in tone, with continuous and recurring repetitions of the theme. It’s 18 minutes of magmatic music, very much in tune with some preferences today, even though it was created 45 years ago, and in the end, it leaves you exhausted and dazed, yet also aware of having brushed against a peak. Thanks to stoopid for reviewing this masterpiece.

Sun Ra & His Solar-Myth Arkestra The Solar-Myth Approach (Vol. 2)

Dear Zion, it's true, you are right about Sun Ra, it's a matter of "take it or leave it." I lean more towards Socrates: "Some of his ideas seem excellent to me; others I struggle to digest." I have left it behind, but every now and then I give it a listen, and this review will prompt me to listen to it again. Thank you.

Well done to mopaga and to grendel for having pointed out in this place of auditory pleasures a musician truly capable of evoking emotions with his perfect combination of voice and guitar. A musician who can tell you a story ...
Michel Petrucciani Oracle's Destiny
Voto:
Dear nighwalker, beautiful and heartfelt review. Remembering Michel Petrucciani is like placing a flower on his grave. I admired his musical wisdom, his courage, his strength. It always moves me to think that in order to compensate for his handicap, he had to focus on individual parts of the piano: the composition would develop by concentrating on specific areas of the keyboard, and then move on to others. His limitations turned into greatness. On my website, I have included a photograph of the place where he rests: It comforts me to imagine him still chasing his beloved notes: Michel Petrucciani Thank you again.
Keith Jarrett La Scala

well done johnofpatmos. this is a truly fitting comment for a keith jarrett album. Moreover, your judgment on the album (the second part is better) completely aligns with my listening experience. As for Jarrett's character, I believe that geniuses don’t have to be perfect in every way.
I’m from Como and in 1995 I tried to get a ticket for La Scala. I was changing jobs and wanted to treat myself. But there wasn't even a shadow of available seats. Lucky jarrettian who was in the theater and then went home all wet...
5 for jarrett (but that's easy: he only makes masterpieces) and 5 for johnofpatmos.
The review is irrelevant, but it's a great opportunity to find many admirers of Jarrett. I don’t know if you think about it: we have the chance to hear (even if just through CDs) a contemporary genius. Not a dead person appreciated after death, but a living one who creates eternal music like that of the dead.

Gabbox: how interesting the Villa Aurora site is! I was taken aback: in 1957 I was operated on in extremis for acute peritonitis in a clinic called "Villa Aurora".... I had a moment of alienation.

Dear Odradek, I don't have this Ralf Towner yet, but, curious about the sound of solo guitar, I found and am listening to "New Chautauqua" by Pat Metheny. It has such a wide breath of American roads and prairies that it would take the breath away from an asthmatic. Find it ... feel it ... and talk about it. Hi everyone.

Hello Gabbox. Thank you for the invitation. I tend towards slowness. But I have ideas and notes. I take this opportunity to point out that on my blog link rotto as of May 2nd there’s a link to download a 25-minute concert by the Necks. Jazz, after the north of Garbarek and the south of Brahem, is traveling again, this time from Australia.
