I have an edition with the (period) illustrations by Attilio Mussino. In my opinion, it's not bad even when reread as an adult. For me, the last time was a few years ago (it was published in installments in l'Unità).

My favorite among Carpenter's films. I've seen it twice, and it has always left me breathless, with its sometimes oppressive tension, occasionally softened by irony. A special mention for the ice cream scene.
