The Beatles Past Masters Volume Two
Voto:
Much more interesting than Volume One, with songs that deserved to be on some album. However, it must be said that the only reason for this collection's existence is the presence of "Rain" and "The Inner Light," since the others have ended up on the "red double" (1962-1966) or the "blue double" (1967-1970).

I vote for kindness and modesty.
Francesco Guccini L'ultima Thule
Voto:
Reflections that I share and that I have partly made myself. Guccini's seems to be a farewell (or a see you later?) that was prepared a long time ago. I am also sorry for his retirement (while accepting it as a normal thing), not least because the old guard is becoming thinner and thinner (this year Ivano Fossati has retired and Lucio Dalla has passed away) and the heirs are missing (but perhaps it wouldn’t make sense to look for them, since the singer-songwriters born in the '60s and '70s grew up in different contexts compared to those who recorded their first albums when they were still in their infancy). In any case, I am grateful to Guccio for everything he has said and done in 50 years of his career.

I also grew up on "Pane e Guccini": the first tapes I started to listen to and collect were his, and I was 14 years old. With his discography, I stopped at "D'amore, di morte e altre sciocchezze." His farewell to concerts and music (but for how long?) fills me with melancholy, the feeling that a constant presence in my life is drifting away, "with the bags already packed for a long time, like any prudent man" (quoting Van Loon), but I also know that it's part of the order of things. I haven't listened to the album (yet), but a 5 for his career and a wish for a long and good life are all that's needed.
Alberto Bagnai Il tramonto dell'euro
Voto:
I am among the many who, despite trying to keep up with economic and monetary issues, struggle to have a clear perspective. Regarding the question of "leaving the euro," I can't take a definite stance, but I tend to see this hypothesis as a leap into the void.
Alicia Keys Girl On Fire
Voto:
Unfortunately, this album contains an ingredient that I am intolerant to: hip-hop.
Eugenio Montale Ossi di seppia
Voto:
One of the few poets I can read. Unfortunately, in high school we only got to Ungaretti, and I read Montale many years later. As The Decline aptly stated, Montale mounted a fierce resistance to civil irrationality throughout his life (Satura, created 40 years later, is an emblematic example) with verses and reflections that retain almost intact their relevance.

Beautiful review, an album to listen to with the lyrics in front of you. It’s definitely not for everyone to set historical themes to music.

I got it as a gift when it was released. Since then, I think I've only listened to it all the way through once (because I've always gotten tired after two or three songs), and the only song I remember is "Stuck in a moment" (which I find annoying).
