I have only read his two "Bar Sport". I have never approached him in the realm of the novel. Nevertheless, he writes well and tells stories of a certain interest.

The book seems more like a pamphlet than a historical essay, even though it offers interesting insights into the disunity of Italy and the less edifying aspects of political unification (plebiscites voted on by a minority, violent repression of banditry...). It is true that the Great War brought citizens from the most disparate geographical origins into contact; I find myself in less agreement on the role of the Fascist dictatorship, which exacerbated nationalist rhetoric to the point that the concepts of Nation and Fatherland came out so tarnished that they became almost exclusive slogans of the extreme right, not to mention the forced Italianization of South Tyrol, the consequences of which we still pay today in some ways.

I also remember the disaster of Jovanotti and Luca Carboni (half a dot between the two). But where did those of "More Than Words" go?
