The Ferrari brothers and Roberta Sammarelli return, aka: Verdena. A new double CD entitled ''Wow'', recorded in a former chicken coop.

The creation of ''Wow'' was influenced by listening to the Beach Boys, Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, the Grizzly Bear, and Lucio Battisti with ''Anima latina''.

14 tracks with audio superior to Alberto Ferrari's voice, as usual, but otherwise, they wouldn’t be Verdena! The first track immediately kicks off with ''Scegli me (un mondo che tu non vuoi)'' and ends with ''Lei disse (un mondo del tutto differente)'' with the addition of percussion, wurlitzer, marimba, and keyboards repeating words from the previous title <Chiudi le malinconie, scegli me, scegli me.> ending with a <Amami> at the finale that seems to encapsulate everything.

''Lonitrep'' includes the addition of the xylophone and resigns us to the fact that we all <are earthly monkeys, it’s good for the image>, in fact, we find a monkey drawn under the song’s lyrics. ''Per sbaglio'' starts with a confusing mix of acids, salt, and coffee <It was an acid, it rises in us. Maybe in a coffee, more than an hour ago it rises in us. And you don’t see reality anymore>. Very slow song that drags enough between one word and another, but the rhythm of the drums is delightful. Addition of guitar (Mirko Zanga) and violin (Stefano Rossi). Also in ''Mi coltivo'' we find underneath the lyrics an appropriate image, a plant. Here they even mention the name of their own CD <You are wow, live for me, do it like this, among the crumbs and nothing more, stay and you are here>.

The first single ''Razzi arpia inferno e fiamme'' has a great start with words in English. The video is very evocative. Notice Alberto with Beatles-style hair more tousled. The second single is the first track, the video is expected on April 8th, the song has already been on all the radios since March 18th.

There are 4 instrumental tracks ''Adoratorio'', ''A capello'', ''12,5 mg'' and ''La volta''.

Some fans have already noticed traces of political hints in ''Miglioramento'' unintentionally created by Alberto <but he is pleased> he says in interviews that in some of his songs there are spurs of the kind even unintentionally creating them < Now you can, you have the physique, to make the revolution I’m waiting for>. We find two tracks that connect ''Sorriso in spiaggia parte 1'' and ''Sorriso in spiaggia parte 2'' (my favorite, the first one), the opening is very catchy and brings joy, it sticks in your head immediately <Dani è di più, più di un hippie è un grillo>.

The photos inside the CD show many WOW writings: in the sand, above the faces of two guys, and one in the center. Very artistic photos of the group, the red van with which they move around, more beaches, laughs. Other very distressing like the face of a cat dead on the ground.

From the second CD I particularly like ''Badea Blues'' where they mention Judas once again, and then Don Callisto, the title of a song from their 2007 album Requiem was the same. Very beautiful also ''Nuova luce'' and ''Canzone Ostinata'' with Stefano Galli (lap steel guitar).

The Italian alternative rock band doesn’t change, putting on the cover their three faces in black and white, after all, it is known, 3 is the perfect number.

Verdena is the Italian band I admire the most because I find in them a creative approach that few have.

An album destined to become a milestone of rock made in Italy, which definitively distances them from their beginnings.

"They are not songs, they are demons. Madness. The desire to burst out of hell, or heaven, with one’s monsters."

"Everything sounds and everything is played: guitars, basses, percussion, mellotron, rhodes, synths, accordions, xylophones, djambé, violins, kazoo... Everything seems to be where it should be, yet nothing is in its place."

"A truly beautiful record is one that immerses you in a climax of full satisfaction from beginning to end, and this is not the case."

"The album is there, and it truly is beautiful, but it’s hidden. You just have to enjoy finding it."

I have in my hands an extremely cultured piece of work, original in the assimilation of all its references, never banal, intricate, and at the same time enjoyable.

The saving power of music (just think that lately we also have a Pope on our side, thinking the same thing, though he probably doesn’t listen to Verdena...).

This album is no longer rock either, I would say that rock-pop would be a pretty happy and meaningful definition compared to their past albums.

They could, they had the physique, and they made the revolution.
