Hehehe I lose track of my own cares too.. as a wise person from my area would say, "I don't give a damn" about spending 60 euros to see them in a group of four with a presumably crappy setlist :-D ..if you manage to do it, give me a shout before the 23rd!

I agree with Lux. An album more than honest in how it plays with its references... the so-called Britpop was never really a peak of exceptional stuff, but compared to the current English scene, it oozed creativity. I give the album a 3.5.

X Holdsworth.. but I think it only offers a completely sanitized view, with stereotypical characters that the average Italian can relate to, featuring conciliatory manners and events. There are no truly daring metaphors, no perspective that can genuinely convey something minimally original and meaningful on the subject (what actual subject, anyway? I largely agree with Primiballi regarding Moretti's intentions, but the script seems frayed and confused). As a portrayal of Italy, it strikes me as ridiculous; Orlando is a superficial caricature, lacking depth, and the plot seems like a little story with neither head nor tail, meant to entertain a hypothetical average leftist audience (and perhaps a few curious right-wingers) to whom Moretti gives very little credit for their intelligence. Ultimately, it seems that with this film, any semblance of reflection on the current Italian situation doesn't even make it through for half a second; it's a film that changes nothing, sanitized indeed, and essentially devoid of meaning. Bye!

Well.. I am left-wing, and even more so, honestly, I found it a pointless movie. Lacking in critical perspective especially, which, at least in Italy, should be a fundamental element for anyone who considers themselves leftist..

well, well... clever, useless, pretentious, trivial. What conclusions can be drawn? None at all, the characters are too stereotypical to be credible; in one of the last scenes, the one with Orlando and Buy in the car, it felt like I was watching a Muccino film. For the rest, clichés thrown together haphazardly, as if having the characters speak in such a ridiculous way could truly provide a snapshot of Italy, a snapshot that is instead only simplistic and, indeed, useless. Ugly.

The mistake lies in considering it a shoegazer record or in the wake of JAMC.. it’s true that Stephen Merritt first described it as inspired by the JAMC, but it’s clear that like all true artists, he distorts any possible influence according to his vision.. these are all simple and ultra-syrupy pieces, but they have a style that 90% of current groups can only dream of, and the arrangements are, as always, brilliant in their disarming simplicity.. the fact that they are full of filters and feedback doesn't mean they are shoegazer.. Merritt references everyone from the Pet Shop Boys to the Beach Boys to 1950s vocal groups, and his genius lies in the total and disarming naturalness with which pieces that reference groups galaxies apart flow completely smoothly and absolutely unmistakably.
