Oh, Charles, a dear friend of mine as well as the guitarist of my band, is studying cultural heritage over there. What year are you in?

Beautiful! Nothing else to say. I found this album a bit heavy, but you've made me want to listen to it again.

I finally finished downloading it.. This album is BEAUTIFUL! Among the few that can confidently be called a "masterpiece" of those released so far in the new millennium. Great shoutout Sallu.

Well, I ponder and ponder, but there’s nothing to be done. They seem like an even more faded version of some post-grunge band...

Well, thanks anyway guys ; ) but for me it's really inconsistent (I guess that was clear) Charles, I'm from Florence. What are you studying in Pisa?

Alright metalhead!! But it was fine even if it was a joke, I wouldn’t have taken it personally! ; ) after all, your comment (joke or not) is much better than those that really offend, losing all sense of proportion regarding what they’re talking about.. Until next time! ; )

mmmm I won't comment further on your idea of Jazz; I'll just conclude that we evidently have quite a different concept of what is elaborate... Anyway, I've listened to Trilogy by Malmsteen: insubstantial; as I already told you, if that’s what you consider elaborate, I prefer some very bare-bones, straightforward rock 'n roll from the Beach Boys... Not to mention Stratovarius, unbearable... P.S. I'll give you another piece of advice: Duke Ellington. Jazz that's not too boring, very modern and "elaborate," at least in the way I mean it...

The Cure, man. I don't understand why you brought up The Cure, since I've never mentioned them... Anyway.. They may or may not be to your liking, I couldn't care less, but in any case, it's hard to consider them a "random rock band thrown into the mix"... very few composers have been as heterogeneous and yet absolutely unique as Robert Smith; I don't know what you've heard, but in The Cure's discography, there's not a single album that is the same as another, not one album that sticks to just one musical genre, and yet it’s also an absolutely incomparable body of work to that of any other band, so rich in personality.. So, I repeat, feel free to consider The Cure crap according to your personal taste, but it pains me to say that it's hard not to regard them as one of the greatest bands of the last 25 years.

ihihihihihi, ME, we are just not on the same page; if you consider the Tortoise to be underdeveloped, (by the way, the "fairly good" drummer has Portnoy for breakfast), you would probably find most of Jazz's production to be underdeveloped as well, a genre that is obviously much more elaborate than Metal; the Tortoise are not simply "instrumental rock," the Tortoise seek a synthesis between the atmospheres and structures of certain Rock (particularly Progressive) with harmonies and interpretations from a Jazz background; all the members of Tortoise are indeed Jazz musicians, and they are all incredibly talented (with much more flair and style than the DT); don't judge by appearances, kid, "elaboration" is certainly not just about overdubs, lengthy solos, high notes and nonsense like that; elaboration is also, and above all, the search for unusual harmonies, the deconstruction of the canonical piece, and dysfunctional and original interpretations and arrangements. The Tortoise are among the few truly innovative bands of the '90s, respect, kid, maximum respect.
