not bad at all for the screaming trees :-) ..as for the Corgan matter, aside from somewhat sterile reflections on who was major and who wasn’t, the smashing pumpkins have always seemed to me one of the most representative bands of the '90s: it is in reference to this, to respond to your comment above that should be read as mellon collie; which is indeed a megalomaniac work, but also a perfect rock album of an era when everything starts to blend together.. it aims to be a 360° album, embracing a considerable part of the more or less alternative rock knowledge of the '90s, and in my opinion, in being the mammoth work it wanted to be, it almost succeeded; because it is undoubtedly a very, very uneven album, but managing with such variety to still remain a very recognizable author, and to maintain a fairly strong conceptual unity, is an intention in which very few would have succeeded.

I agree with Alessio, Just to change things up (but this time I won't give you the satisfaction of telling me I'm parochial :-D)... anyway, I don't understand, regardless of the quality of the review, which is enjoyable and well-written, what sense it makes to talk today about joke bands like the Everclear... that were already a joke back then, let alone now in a context where rock is much less naïve than it was ten or more years ago (and that’s not a compliment to today’s rock); they’re nonsense, just like the overhyped (at the time) Stone Temple Pilots and their ilk, but more than nonsense, they have no reason to exist and therefore to be remembered.

It really looks like a nice piece of crap.. too bad, I've been looking for Kopple's "Harlan County, USA" for years, which I've only found in English (that is, without subtitles) and it's a beautiful documentary. The one about Woodstock also has interesting moments. I wonder why she made crap like that..

The piece with Ruggiero is awesome. Mostly for his vocal line that drives me crazy. As for the rest, the usual collection of yawns (mine) at their usual pointless frills.

fucking record. And I confirm what Alessio said.. as for the review, I'm not sure that Radiohead are into "lo-fi" recordings, otherwise great!

Nice story Alessione! But the genre/approach you proposed just can't hold my attention :-)

well..in my opinion, they've actually lost a lot. The first one struck me, and this one impressed me in the same way only with "Ventrale" ..for the rest, it seems to me that the best insights are always left as mere hints, never really having the courage to pursue them further, and that everything ultimately boils down to repeating a convenient standard, with lyrics that, for that matter, seem to me increasingly to border on rhetoric.. too bad, because their structure is still solid and personal.

I don't have this one.. I must admit without bias that the Pere start to bore me a bit on record. Not so with the live performance, which was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.
