If you put it that way, I can't really argue with you. It probably "irritated" me precisely because they were a group that was definitely above average... I've just never been able to get into Manowar.. :-D Bye, until next time!

Anyway, just to say since we’re on the subject, they still have some cool musical ideas (like in arpeggios; nothing the Cocteau Twins didn’t think of 25 years ago). But what really gets them is Yorke's voice; so consistently blandly the same that it becomes truly farcical; not to mention terribly tedious by now. They should change the singer; maybe it would actually benefit them in this case :-D

x alexander: happy to make you happy :-D "any local jerk or radical-chic or little bourgeois from the city listens to Radiohead" exactly, at least in the case of radical chic or little bourgeois from the city you confirmed what I had written, namely that we are talking about an audience that has at least a minimal idea of music.. as for the rest, my opinion may be reductive, but when it comes to the Radiohead, I really can’t understand what the hell they want to say anymore.. and moreover, the reviews reflect the same; everything interesting that is read are the same things attributable to all Radiohead albums since the days of OK Computer. The fact that there has been no minimal conceptual evolution says a lot. To each their own though, but you know how it is, certain albums have the power to irritate me, and simply saying "they're not inspired" wouldn't have satisfied me at all :-D

they have nothing left to say, this has been clear since the days of hail to the thief.. there’s no longer anything truly expressive in their music, reduced to refined little exercises that are at most curious: hence, considering that their audience is certainly a rather cultured one, their only function is to provide entertainment for intellectuals.. indeed, don’t get me wrong, it’s not that everyone who listens to them is a snob, but they certainly are, making music for snobs.

fantastic Calvin Johnson: a few years ago I saw one of his concerts at Mula in Sesto Fiorentino that left everyone speechless :-D it was just him with the guitar and sometimes even without, just his voice accompanied by him doing a kind of dance like a waltz.. musically not exactly flawless, but the character is undeniable :-)

uhm uhm, I don’t totally agree with the review: in fact, I find the Pavement very ā€œphilosophicalā€ in their approach to music; maybe the real difference with the others you mentioned is that there are bands that make lo-fi a musical philosophy, while Pavement aesthetically exploit lo-fi to represent more of an existential philosophy... anyway, the beauty of it is that in their own way they are a conceptual band :-D

oh Alessio, have you heard the new one from Stephen Malkmus? ..I’m burning it to CD right now, I really want to listen to it.

eheheh :-D but those usually last an average of a minute and a half... anyway, I've never listened to the whole Mellon Collie, just bits; not for any particular reason, but having an hour and a half of uninterrupted time to dedicate to an album isn't easy either.
